Summer heat and searing sun,
all is over before it's begun.
Suddenly cooler days give way,
with vivid colors in bright array.
But like a wisp they too are gone,
bleakness soon displays the dawn.
Winter cold and shorter days,
becoming hues of white and gray.
Then once again spring is here,
melting snow, flowers appear.
Day after day, year after year,
I am reminded that life is dear.
Quickly, rapidly the days progress,
the Lord is good in His tenderness.
He gives us life as a precious gift,
it's our souls He wants to lift.
Only by His hand do we live and breathe,
only He knows the day we will leave.
While on this earth may we always be,
godly people of integrity.
No matter what the time of year,
may we hold each season dear.
We never know when we too shall pass,
we will fade like a blade of grass.
Whether summer, fall, winter or spring,
treat your life like a fragile thing.
Giving thanks to God for all,
living life towards the upward call.
