After traveling for eleven days, the caravan headed more west toward the Euphrates and the Syrian desert. When the caravan reached the fast moving shallow water of the Euphrates, they took a camel ford through and then took a road that would lead them through Roman controlled Syria.
As they traveled, Reme constantly looked up to make sure that the bright star was still guiding them toward their destination.
The caravan stopped for the night in Palmyra to rest the camels.
" How far to Jerusalem?" Reme asked his friend as he gave a piece of bread to his camel.
" Possibly fourteen days" Paton replied as he continued to tie up the camels together to guard against theft." More than likely twelve".
