The Father said "Let there be light"
And there was light let there
The Father said "Enjoy it bright"
And there was joy quite fair
The Father said "Look for shade"
And there were children beneath the vine
And there were children wading in time
The Father said "Watch for stars"
And there were children watching afar
The Father said "Dream of heaven"
And there were hopes all heightened
The Father said "Lights out"
And there was a final shout
A final shout, a shout rang out
There was distress, there was a child who loved to flout
The child had no sleep, he had not heard
His Father had spoken and was the Word
And so the Father said "There is tomorrow"
And never again was there sorrow
But oh the burden of tomorrow
For it is the Day that no days follow
So if you think you've heard
The Father said "Be pleased and learn"
For the time is coming when you will know
How quickly came the time... to go
