Hearts are filled with many desires
To give love and receive love
To achieve, to seek reward
Many are born with the hunger
To leave their mark, to be a difference maker
To change the world because they were here.
When we claim the hunger as our own,
We quest for power and adoration
We want the world to remember
We dream of riches, of fame
And monuments to our accomplishments
Something that will last, that will endure
After we depart.
When we know that the hunger is not of ourselves
When we yield it to the Source
And we quest not for ourselves, but for others
The riches that flow surpass understanding
The treasures we gain are stored for us
In the place they endure forever
Where there is reward eternal for the one who gives
And forever blessings for the one who receives.
You, my dear friend, have done this
You have given over your quest to your Maker
You have allowed Him to use your life
To leave an indelible mark
To make a difference that will last forever
And change a life because you were there.
Your monument is not of stones, of steel
It does not reach to the heavens
Emblazoned with your name for all to see
Your memorial does not proclaim to all the world
“This is what I have done, this is who I am”
No, my dear friend
Your shrine lives in a quiet realm
Known only to three
The Maker, the giver
And the soul your life was appointed to touch.
Your journey became my inspiration
Your scars became my guiding stars
Your wisdom became my teacher
Your spirit became my wings
Your heart became the key
That unlocked my dreams, my voice, my hope.
Your caring shined a light in my darkest places
Helping me to see myself as I am, laid bare
To see all that is broken
And the promise of wholeness
To be moved and inspired
To lay it all down before my Lord
Seek His power through my frailties
And discover all He made me to be.
The most wonderful part
For your days in this life
Is the blessing that returns to you
Seeing how your heart
Your willingness to yield
Your answer to the call
All that your life has sown
Will flourish through God’s wondrous work.
Yes, my dear friend
You have what you have always dreamed
Something you have always wanted
A testament to your life
Preserved for eternity
For the pleasure of the Master
In His heavenly home.
Forever it is written
In the Great Book above,
“Your life planted many seeds
that I made grow
to change the life of My child”
