“To Mourn” means to lament, grieve over, express grief, state of bereavement. Mourning is associated with intense pain, suffering and loss of something that is very precious and valuable in our lives. When we mourn it reveals our intense affection, attachment, concern and love either for ourselves, others and society at lager. Mourning often leaves a person helpless and disintegrated with a sense of hopelessness, unworthiness and with a fear of uncertainty whose end result is “Discomfort and Vexation”.
Often mourning in the Bible is in context with chastisement from the God; trials, temptations, prolonged sufferings, persecution are blessing in disguise. In Job 5:17, Bible declares, “Behold, happy is the man whom God correcteth: therefore despise not thou the chastening of the Almighty: For he maketh sore, and bindeth up: he woundeth, and his hands make whole.” Throughout the Bible we find examples of God chastening His people, servants and chosen ones so that in their weaknesses His glory can be manifested. The comforting fruits that mourning often produces due to the chastisement from the God are humbleness, repentance, forgiveness, restoration, perfection, peace, joy, perseverance and righteousness leading a person from death to life; for Bible clearly states in 2 Corinthians 7:10 states that worldly sorrow produces death while the godly sorrow leads a person from death to life.
As Disciples of Christ Jesus we must cry to the Lord for saving the people of the world from the sin; we must mourn over the sins committed within the church by us and our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus; we must mourn unto the Lord over the injustice, exploitation and unmerciful heinous acts and crimes done against the poor, orphans, widows and elderly people within our families, societies, culture, nation, world and in the body of Christ; we must cry unto the Lord for empowering His Church with the Spirit of Love, Peace and Unity irrespective of the denominations; we must cry unto the Lord to bless His people to walk in the path of righteousness and overcome evil by doing good and thereby silencing the ignorant talks of the unbelievers; we must cry unto the Lord to anoint us with His grace to bless those who curse us, to pray for those who persecutes us, to forgive those who have trespassed against us; we must cry unto the Lord to help us remain faithful unto Him amidst trials, temptations, persecution and make us branches that remains in Him and bear fruit all to the honor, glory and praise for our Father in the heaven; we must cry unto the Lord to empower us in His grace to carry our daily cross and walk after Him and that in each day of our lives we will carry around in our body the death of Jesus Christ , so that the life of Jesus may also be made visible in our body and while Christ’s death works in our body the people of the world will witness life of Christ Jesus in them; we must cry unto the Lord to help us to live by the Spirit so that we will not carry out the desires of the flesh; we must cry unto the Lord to bless us with the fruit of the Spirit love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control so that we would not become conceited, provoking one another, being jealous of one another, being self-righteous, being selfish , being judgmental & condemning others , unforgiving others; we must cry unto Lord to bless us with the same attitude towards one another that Christ Jesus had that of being loving, humble, gentle, meek , and obedient ; we must cry unto the Lord to strive toward the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus, forgetting the things that are behind and reaching out for the things that are ahead for our citizenship is in heaven – and we also await a savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform these humble bodies of ours into the likeness of his glorious body by means of that power by which he is able to subject all things to himself; we must cry unto the Lord for the revival and restoration for the people and nation of Israel for by their transgression salvation has come to the Gentiles, to make Israel jealous and if their transgression means riches for the world and their defeat means riches for the Gentiles, how much more will their full restoration bring?;Above all things let us cry unto the Lord for His righteousness to reign down from the heaven, that His Kingdom come, His will be done as in the heaven upon this earth and into our lives, families, nations and into the body of Christ.
Beloved Saints of Christ Jesus, mark this that the mourning produced due to the chastisement of God helps a individual believer and church collectively to pass from death to life; it reveals God’s love for us and proves that He is treating us as His children and is making us humble to abide in His will and saves us from His coming judgment and wrath upon the world. For God promises that, “Blessed are those who wash their robes so they can have access to the tree of life and can enter into the city by the gates.”
When we mourn/cry as Christ’s disciples for God’s righteousness and His Kingdom come, God promises us the comfort in our eternal life for He has put our tears in His bottle; those who shed tears as they plant will shout for joy when they reap the harvest. He will bless us with His reward to pay each one of us according to what we have done!
Beloved ones of Christ Jesus, let us not be afraid nor refrain ourselves from being mourning for our momentary, light suffering /cry is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison because we are not looking at what can be seen but at what cannot be seen. For what can be seen is temporary, but what cannot be seen is eternal.
May glory be given to God our Father forever and ever. Amen.
Eternally Christ’s,
