BENEFITS OF OBEDIENCE

Dear friend,
By nature, we're stubborn, arrogant, and disobedient! The Lord confirmed it concerning the people of Israel when He said, " I will say it again: The LORD your God is not giving you this good land because you are righteous, for you are a stubborn people." Det.9:6.

Sometimes, God can be so blunt that His powerful Words of truth knock us 'cold dead' like a swift, deadly, and unexpected uppercut! But that's because He loves us so much and would want us to change. When we become born again as children of God, it becomes mandatory for God to discipline us - as His beloved children. It's not a pleasant task and responsibility, but a very necessary one! Pro.3:11, 12.

The ultimate purpose is getting our stubborn wills to yield willingly in absolute obedience to His commands and instructions. The benefits are amazingly out of this world! Whenever we delay in responding to God's prompt persuasions, we delay the manifestation of it's blessed and glorious inevitable consequence. Our relationship with God is further strained leading to suspicion, distrust, and bitterness!

Quite often, delay in our deliverance, breakthrough, and answer to prayers is the consequence of our stubbornness, lethargy, arrogance, and disobedience! Nothing provokes quick and speedy divine intervention like prompt and precise obedience to the precious, peculiar promptings of the Holy Spirit's voice of instruction and direction.

Psalm 81:13, 14.
Oh, that my people would listen to me!
Oh, that Israel would follow me, walking in my paths!
How quickly I would then subdue their enemies!
How soon my hands would be upon their foes!

Jesus Christ fulfilled His active earthly ministry in less than 4years because of absolute obedience to the Father! Consequently, even in His physical absence, God's Word, God's work and God's purpose for humanity is expanding, growing and reproducing in leaps and bounds! When we break free from selfishness, stubbornness, and disobedience to obey promptly in every aspect of our lives, God's glorious power is released in such a dimension that makes our physical involvement or participation in the present and eternal fulfillment of our destinies unnecessary! God almighty condescends to work for people who're in absolute obedience to His will and instructions.

It's virtually impossible for the natural, unregenerate, and carnal heart to obey God. For us to be able to obey God, it is required that our hearts must be circumcised. We must be born again by God's Spirit in order to be as yielding as sheep. Jn.1:12, 13; Jn.3:16; Rom.10:9-13; Jn.10:14-16. With the new birth comes the ability to cultivate a listening and teachable heart. Ps.85:8; Dt.28:1; Ps.81:8. We then progress to developing the habit of seeking the Lord first, for direction, deliverance, and blessing with prompt obedience, as proof of our trust and reliance on Him alone. Pro.3:5, 6; Jer.29:11-14.

By now, we're becoming spiritually strong and stable enough to identify and understand that whatever is preeminent above God in our lives, be it the car, spouse, boss, job, jewelry, child or status, is an idol! Shunning idolatry turns our hearts to trusting God wholly. Ps.81:9; Jer.17:5-10. To accomplish absolute obedience, it is also required that we must mature in Christ enough to identify and pass inevitable divine tests. - Ps.81; 7; Heb.5; 8; 1Pet.1; 7; James 1:12.

As the Holy Spirit enables us meet the above requirements through regular fellowship with Him in prayer and study/meditation on God's Word, we're able to obey God promptly and absolutely! The benefits are definite and infallible, which are supernatural intervention and deliverance. Ps.81:6, 7, 10; Exo.33:14.

We also experience speedy advancement in life and in all our endeavours because of God delivering us speedily. Ps.81:13,14. Our enemies are terrorized and subdued forever. Ps.81:15. We become blessed with the best food and good things, entitled to a life of excellence, distinction, and class, in Christ Jesus. Ps.81:16.

So, what's God's Spirit prompting you to do right now? Could it be to repent, give, forgive, forsake, forego, preach the gospel, support the gospel, live according to the gospel, go into full-time ministry, and get married? Etc, etc. Delay is deadly, and outright disobedience is to your detriment. Obey quickly and get blessed quickly to the glory of God!

Ps.119:60 - I will hurry, without lingering or delay, to obey your commands.

Have a glorious day in God's awesome presence.
