Why should jealousy haunt you for this much long. What is this monster, look this article and God will bless you.
Jealousy and envy are emotions that have plagued the human race since the days of Cain and Abel. The ‘green eyed monster’ has been the source of destruction and misery in many people’s lives. On several occasions it has led to needless pain and suffering and lives lived in regret for those who bear it.
Jealousy comes from being unfulfilled in life. You look at your life and compare it to someone else and yours comes up short. In an effort not to feel bad about yourself, you go about imitating the life of another so that you can convince yourself you are at par. Sadly, reality comes knocking on your door, to show you that it is not so. This realization leaves one deflated and lacking confidence and will manifest, as it has in your life, with depression, guilt and shame among other things. Coveting what is not yours has led many to take action in very sinister ways, that they later come to regret.
Thankfully, you have not resorted to doing anything drastic that might destroy your life. However, it may have got to the point whereby you rejoice in your friend’s misery. Realizing that you need to put an end to this and understanding the harm that envy is doing to you as a person, is a good thing, it shows you are ready for change.
That change can only manifest when you stop comparing your life to your friends. You are unique individuals with different gifts to contribute to this world. How you validate your self-worth needs to be set according to your standards and not those of your parents, siblings and others in society, otherwise you will stay stuck in the maze of inadequacy for life.
Begin to explore what it is that makes you happy. You too are important and your dreams can also come to fruit when you identify what they are. It is easy to copy someone else dream because it keeps you from being responsible for your own life. It allows you to wallow in self-pity about the things you don’t have in your life that others have, instead of taking positive action towards changing things.
As things stand, you are dissatisfied with your life and suffer from low self-esteem. To change things, begin to take an interest in yourself. You have something to offer that no one else can because of your unique talents and abilities. Occupy your time discovering those talents and celebrate them. Playing malicious games with your friends will not bring you lasting joy. Living life through friends will make you miss out on your own life. It will keep you stuck in the past instead of enjoying the present. That is precious time you cannot afford to waste living a life that is not yours.
