“The object of war is victory, but the object of victory is occupation." - Napoleon.
Loren Cunningham, Founder of Youth With A Mission (YWAM), said this: "As we disciple the nations by giving them godly economic systems, Bible-based forms of government, education anchored in God’s Word, families with Jesus at the head, entertainment that portrays God in His variety and excitement, media that is based on communicating the truth in love, and churches that serve as sending stations for missionaries into all areas of society, we will see the fulfillment of the Great Commission and multiplied millions coming into the Kingdom of God. Jesus promises that, as we do this, 'I am will you always, even to the end of the age' (Matthew 28:20).
"Jesus has promised to give the earth to the meek, to the barefoot, to those who have surrendered their rights to Him. He wants us to claim the nations of the earth as His inheritance. He promises us that we will gain it all if we give it all.” (Loren Cunningham, Winning God's Way [YWAM, 1988], p. 132).
Sounds great, right? Sounds like Brother Cunningham expects each of us to be a CHRISTIAN with a mission. Trouble is, these days, many Christians aren’t feeling much like fighting when they’re hanging on for dear life. In the midst of these turbulent times where people are losing all their savings, their jobs and their homes, where attitudes toward leadership have diminished, where our feelings toward the Corporate world and our Government can best be described as cynical, I’m sensing a very prophetic message breaking through like a beacon of light on a foggy night.
Are you ready for it? It’s very deep and profound.
Here it is:
“In order for something new to take place, that which is old must come to an end.”
That’s it. To put it another way, if God is going to do a new thing, the old thing will not stand in His way; it MUST be dismantled. I don’t see how His Kingdom can be advanced when so many of our OWN kingdoms and idols still remain standing.
In many instances, we would be wise to dismantle those kingdoms ourselves! I attended a church many years ago whose leaders believed the Holy Spirit was directing them that it was time to close their doors. Imagine that! Their work was finished. They paid off all their debts, gave the long-time church secretary all the remaining cash, and had one final service allowing the congregation to receive its sense of closure. It was sad, yes, but many in attendance couldn’t help but wonder afterward how many OTHER churches should pull up their tent pegs, too.
I’m reminded of how America’s relationship with horses morphed from total dependence to eventual obsolescence. Ford’s Model T allowed us to travel the country, to more quickly call upon clients, and to shop. America wanted what Ford promised and, literally, put the beloved horse out to pasture.
It was time.
Things ARE changing again. Are you sensing this?
They MUST change. Are you ready?
How will you handle life on “Planet USA” when it becomes unrecognizable in contrast to, let’s say, Mayberry RFD? Think about it: will today’s children ever reminisce fondly about “the Good ol’ days”?
One day, as I was driving, enjoying the beautiful, hilly Texas countryside, the Spirit revealed to me dozens of white castles dotting the wooded hills, each with a red flag with a white cross on its staff. As I marveled at all these little castles, I instantly knew that they were the “kingdoms of man” – some of which included church buildings and religious organizations.
Yikes! It seems many of these manmade endeavors and institutions are predestined to having a Jericho experience, complete with walls that come tumbling down.
In order to have something we’ve never had, something must happen that has never happened.
THE SEVEN MOUNTAINS: WHERE ARE THEY?
Christians who are keeping their finger on the pulse of current events and prophecy will be familiar with a teaching referred to as “the Seven Mountains.”
These Seven Mountains are said to be seven spheres of influence that make up the “Mind-Molders” that control Nations. In other words, he who occupies these mountains controls the harvest.
Scripture tells us, “He who wins souls is wise.” We’re not talking about the Sinner’s Prayer here; the soul consists of the mind, the will and the emotions. By that definition, Adolf Hitler was one of the most wise of the world’s Soul Winners.
As Satan gains power over these mountains, he increases his capacity for "Mind Control" – the mind being the battleground where he and his minions get their foothold on mankind, the same mind which, once renewed, will cause us to “be transformed,” (Rom 12:2).
There are spiritual forces at work that will seduce entire people groups into thinking alike. This phenomenon explains sudden trends in fashion or music and instant celebrity status among certain people or fads. This “mind-bending Spirit” works to turn whole continents against each other and will even facilitate global wars. We’ve seen examples of mind control over various groups in recent years as people “drink the Kool-Aid” offered to them by their charismatic leaders. Such instances are likely to increase in the darker days ahead.
Here are the Seven Mountains we’re hearing about these days – the realms of our societal Mind-Molders, if you will:
1. Spirituality, including The Church
4. Government and Law
5. Media and Communication
6. Arts and Entertainment
7. Business and Finance
Understand this: Rulers of Darkness – demonic Princes - operate through human beings. They’ve been given a foothold and have taken miles of ground as a result of having been given an inch. Their goal is to occupy key strategic positions at the tops of these mountains, and to populate these positions with people who will become Gatekeepers of their deviant agendas.
A small group in control of the Media, for example - people with a homosexual bias - can produce entertaining programs that make the Gay lifestyle seem appealing and generate acceptance. They desensitize those who view such programs and they begin to subconsciously embrace that lifestyle, thus becoming more tolerant and, somehow, seemingly more virtuous. This constant media assault has the effect of tenderizing our minds to the issues of morality and creates intolerance for moral absolutes regarding sexual purity and a false tolerance for perversion.
That’s just one example of how this demonic mind control works. And it’s working quite well all around EVERY one of us, EVERY single day.
Bearing this example in mind, as we examine those Seven Mountains, it’s pretty easy to determine where the enemy is at work in the world today. In 2 Corinthians 2:11, Paul reminds us not to be unfamiliar with Satan’s evil schemes.
Are YOU familiar, or are his schemes too well-disguised; too enticing?
Naturally, there will be people of God who will be strategically placed within those Seven Mountains on the payroll. Let’s face it, even the most evil of men can recognize a hard-working, moral employee. Besides, if the Light flees the Darkness, the darkness gets darker. Once these Believers make their faith known by lifting up a standard, they should anticipate persecution. In some instances, it will come immediately, however, in other instances, their Christian presence will command a blessing from God which will become obvious to their leaders (think Joseph in Potiphar’s house or the Ark of the Covenant on Obed-Edom’s property). Divine favor will come to these godly people before persecution begins. These Christians should seek to aggressively and strategically maximize their opportunities to advance the Kingdom before Satan’s emissaries can stir things up.
