The other day an acquaintance of mine who had read several of my last few blog entries said to me, “You see God in everything,” to which I answered, “Thank you.” This set him back a little bit because I think he thought I was going to argue with him but I think he gave me a great complement.
You see, I believe that God is Lord of my life, or in other words he is in control of my life. Therefore I need to be looking for the way he is leading me. John 8:12
Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
If we follow Jesus he will show us the way to go or as the verse says, we shall not walk in the darkness. That is why I am looking at everything and trying to see what God is doing and follow His leading. We see this same promise in Psalm 23 and Psalm 119:105
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.
5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.
Here we see that God makes us do things. Look at all ways the Lord is active in our lives. He makes us not to want, He makes us lie down, He leads us, He restores us, He comforts us, He prepares for us, He anoints us and he does all of this till our cup runs over. This is one of the most comforting verses in the Bible because it shows us what God is doing for us.
105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Psalm 119:105 tells us that we also find out what God wants us to do by looking in his perfect Word. This is the most forgotten source to find God’s will. We all want to hear Him in an audible voice, but that is not the way it works. He is right there if we just pick up the Bible, and we can hear His Words there.
Sharon and I do not believe in coincides or fate or whatever else they call it now days, but we call them God-incidents. We believe that God is active in our everyday lives. Therefore we ask for God’s help in everything we do. 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
16 Rejoice evermore.
17 Pray without ceasing.
18 In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
God has the power to do everything we ask and more than we can think of. He also says that it is His will concerning us. I have made a change in my life now that instead of going around asking God for things like a big Santa Clause in the sky, I am asking God to show me His will in my life. That is why I am always looking at everything and trying to find God in it, because I am trying to find out what God wants me to do. I am not always great at this, I have already told you of several times God had to hit me over the head with a frying pan, but thank God he is patient with me. That is why I think it was such a great complement when my friend said I see God in everything. This means that I am looking for God in everything enough that others people are seeing it, and they will also start looking for God.
