False Contentment
I was so content with my life,
I had everything I could need.
My life was going just great,
and my finances were in lead.
I lived in the finest house,
I drove an expensive car.
Nothing I did went wrong,
yes, I was going to go far.
I was admired and liked by all,
for advice I was sought out.
When a problem would arise,
they came to me without doubt.
Then one day I had to face,
something different and new
I realized I was all alone,
and didn’t know what to do.
When life as I had known it,
came crashing down on me.
I did had no one to turn to,
and a solution I couldn’t see.
I lost my home and my job,
then my money was all gone.
I didn’t know what to do,
I had, had it all for so long.
Desperate and totally alone,
I felt crushed and despaired.
Then a friend told me of Jesus,
and about how much he cared.
I found my way to my knees,
and there to Jesus I did plead,
I invited him into my life,
he took away my worldly greed.
Until then I’d never realized,
the things I thought I had earned,
Jesus had only let me use them,
to pave the way, to a lesson learned
