Depriving self, or denying the self in order to attain a higher spiritual perspective should be viewed as a service; firstly, a service of adoration, worship, praise, and appreciation inspired by God’s Love working within us, and lastly as service to mankind.
To many of us this may seem a high order, too high to attain.
Most of us are so preoccupied, and consummated by our daily worldly cares that we can not see higher than our immediate needs. But then again we were created for higher things, and those things are basically and simply summed up in loving our fellows as we love our selves.
If we hold the mindset that every labour and cross we carry is a service ordained to glorify Christ in our lives, and then making sacrifices would ultimately lead to a higher spiritual comprehension. We will not view our sacrifices as a compelling duty, but rather a delightsome vocation.
The icing on top is that the sacrifices we make are not only inspired by divine love, but also powered unto accomplishment by the self same love working within.
And the best part of it is that for every sacrifice rendered, it will not only be a plus for our eternal record, but there is a reward in the here and now.
Conclusively we can say, “He that inspires our motives, and purposes is the same that empowers our abilities and capabilities”; depending on what we allow to inspire us, ‘The Word’, or ‘The World’?
