Helmet of Salvation: The helmet is used to protect the head and brain from internal and external wounds. We use our spiritual helmet to protect our minds from unwanted and ungodly attacks from the enemy.
To all who believe this is cleary our "hope of salvation",(1 Thessalonians 5:8). To hope is to (believe that something good will happen). So to 'hope of salvation' is to believe in our minds that we have recieved everlasting life, which we recieve when we accept Christ into our life's and that which he has given us through his sin offering. There are many times when we feel so faint inside waiting for the completion of our salvation which is completed when we are united with our Lord in paridise. But when we put on our 'helmet of salvation' by the hope which we obtain from his word, our strength is renewed,(Psalms 119:81). The 'helmet of salvation' is strickly dealing with the mind of the believer. Most would call it "battlefield of the mind", I would much rather call it, the putting on the 'helmet of salvation'. If there is a battle going on in your mind that's overpowering you, this is time to put on your spiritual helmet. Not to say we are to ever take it off; but there are times that we do. There is no better way to gain strength in our minds and hearts then when we put on our 'helmet of salvation'. Through our spiritual helmets we learn: God's love for us, the power and authority we have in Christ, our everlasting destination, our enternal freedom we have through Christ, the riches that are bestowed upon us through Christ's poverty and the victory we have over the enemy when we quote God's word to him,(Matthews 3:11). NOTE: In order for you to have a 'helmet of salvation', you must read and study God's word,(Palms 119:81)! It is through his word that our helmet is shaped to fit our heads. Putting on the helmet of salvation is also a faith act before God. "For we walk by faith not by sight",(2 Corinthians 5:7). It is in this act that God not only strengthens us in our hearts and minds,(Psalm 31:24); but yet pours out his mercy in the believers life who hopes in salvation,(Psalm 33:18). We must keep our thoughts focused on these things: "whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things",(Philippians 4:8). For is in this that you shall ware your 'helmet of salvation', or as the apostle Paul called it in (1 Thessalonians 5:8) "hope of salvation" in total victory! Always keep God's love and word curved in yours hearts and present in your minds at all times. "Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver",(Psalm 7:2).
