Used to block a blow from an opposing attack. This spiritual shield is used to block all wicked attacks, temptations, worries of fear, oppressing problems, people who attack in word or action, demonic afflictions, addictions, ect... These are of that, the Enemy will fire your way as a believer.
No better way to block a strike then that of a shield! This has got to be our most needed piece of armory that is used almost constantly. We fight an opponent that will almost never stop launching his fiery arrows at out body, soul and spirit. Without the 'shield of faith', rest assure you will be hit numerous times! Until everything that is in you has bleed out. When a person is not using the 'shield of faith' during the times needed, it is evident that unrighteousness is at work. For the righteousness of God is by faith through Jesus Christ, (Romans 3:22). For without faith it is impossible to please God,(Hebrews 11:6)! Therefore it is sin,(Romans 14:23)! If we are the just, than we shall live by faith,(Romans 1:17). WE SHALL LIVE BY FAITH!!! Not sometimes, all the time. For it is in this that is accounted for our righteousness,(Romans 4:5). By faith we are justified and therefore we have the peace of God; which comes from our savoir Jesus Christ, (Romans 5:1). See, we are not heir to Jesus by the law in his word; if so our faith would be void, (Romans 4:14). But by his grace through our faith in him, we have the promise,(Romans 4:16).
How does a person obtain the 'shield of faith'? First you must believe that God is who he is; therefore believing everything he has said in his word. Then you must spiritually hear his word as you read it,(Romans 10:17). Carving it on your hearts. Last but not least, applying it in all that you do. Again, "faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God"(Romans 10:17). When the wicked one fires his arrows of afflictions we must put up our shield to quench his attacks,(Ephesians 6:16). Our shield is our believe in Jesus who is greater in us (because of our faith in him), than he who is in the world,(1 John 4:4). It is in our faith in him, that heals our bodies. It is our faith in him, that calms the storms of life. It is our faith in him that rebukes people who afflict us in all manners. It is our faith in him, that opens and closes doors that no man can open or close. It is our faith in him, that brings victory in battles. It is our faith in him that gives wisdom in all things. The list goes on and on! So do you see how important faith is in our daily walk? So when you are not walking by faith at any time you are not walking in righteousness at that time. And when you are not walking in righteousness you are open for attack. Jesus is our manna from heaven in which he gave as an offering so that we may eat and never hunger. So let us give up our life's and in him let us put our faith!
So remember, when you are not walking by faith at any time you are not walking in righteousness at that time. And when you are not walking in righteousness you are open for attack. No matter how many times you go to church, pray, read the word, if your not walking by faith you are not pleasing to God at that time, (Hebrews 11:6). So get your buckler and shield and draw near to battle, (Jeremiah 43:6)!
