John 3:14-16 And just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert [on a pole], so must [so it is necessary that] the Son of Man be lifted up [on the cross], In order that everyone who believes in Him [who cleaves to Him, trusts Him, and relies on Him] may not perish, but have eternal life and [actually] live forever! For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. (Quick Amplified Bible)
Well, it is an absolute fact that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on that hellish Roman cross-died for the sins of the world. The fact that Christ finished His redemptive work, should not it result in every person’s salvation. The Scripture says that God so loved the world.
Why have so many multiplied billions still died and gone to hell? Christ has already done the work on the cross and now it is the responsibility of His sons and daughters to lift Him up before an unregenerate and unbelieving world. Sin is the wall or barrier that blocks the lost from seeing the Glory of our Lord and Savior.
2 Corinthians 3:14-17 But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the veil is taken away in Christ. But even to this day, when Moses is read, a veil lies on their hearts. Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. (NKJV)
These words spoken by the Apostle Paul may seem a little confusing, but he is simply and plainly telling us by inspiration of the Holy Spirit (The Lord Jesus) that everyone of us are completely blind spiritually when we enter into this world. There is no reasoning or human logic or wisdom that can give us spiritual site.
Notice in the above passage where the veil has taken up residence. The veil lies on the heart of every unsaved person in this earth. The heart of man cannot see the Glory of Christ because it is blinded by sin and its love for sin. Sin is the veil that covers up the heart.
Once the heart is turned to Christ the veil of sin is lifted by Him and the person for the first time in their life sees the supreme love, beauty, splendor, majesty, and glory inherent in Christ alone. Christ is salvation, Christ is redemption, Christ is deliverance, and Christ is all. There is nothing before Christ, after Christ, or in between knowing Christ (not knowing about Him).
This is also why the Apostle Paul said elsewhere in the Scripture, “I determined to know nothing amongst you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified.” This is why we must lift up His name in every corner of this earth. All of us are not called to lift His name up in the same manner, but it is the responsibility of every child of God.
With the many different vehicles of communication available to us today, we must thrust ourselves into the arena of this world and fill this world with the Word of God (the gospel of Jesus Christ). There is no other way man will ever be saved. I know today we hear from every part of the earth people worshiping God and practicing their religion, but make no mistake about it at all there will not be one soul in the Kingdom of Heaven whose heart has never turned to Christ. There is no such thing as other ways to God. If the heart of a lost sinner never turns to truly trust Christ that soul will perish in the lake of fire.
You know politics is woven into the very fabric of our country America. The founding fathers of this nation wanted a Government that was not at the mercy of merely one man. Therefore, our system of checks and balances were developed. America was formed as a melting pot of people from very different parts of the world.
But, I believe when we seriously analyze the collective intentions of those men, we will find that this country was to be strictly and singularly a Christian nation founded on and living according to the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
I submit to you that the concept of Freedom of Religion never meant to those early settlers any other Religions besides faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. If we go back and look at some of the great institutions of learning in this country i.e. Harvard, Princeton, and Yale, they were all founded by men who loved and trusted the Lord Jesus Christ.
Consequently, the schools were to be where young people would learn varying different disciplines, but its primary objective was to lead young boys and girls to an intimate knowledge of the Lord Jesus Christ. We see today how far from the early mandate these institution have drifted. The three schools earlier sited have and still do now produce some of the countries most educated atheist. How far the fall is when suddenly the name of the Lord Jesus Christ ceases to be lifted up among men and women.
The idea or concept of Freedom of Religion was to be the freedom openly to follow the Lord Jesus Christ in every aspect of life in this country. I believe the founding Fathers never had in mind any other religions coming to these shores to take a foothold in this land and especially in the highest offices of Government.
Otherwise how can we explain “In God we trust” on our money or praying the Lord's prayer (in the name of Jesus) in school and a host of other things that have long been removed from site today. Their idea or desire was to have the Lord Jesus Christ lifted up throughout this vast land from the Eastern shores all the way to the West Coast. Christ was to be preeminent throughout the land of America.
I submit to you that the idea of all religions being the same or equal in this country was never their intention. But because men (controlled by Satan) using very shrewd language over time, distorted the meaning of the words of the Constitution and broaden them far wider than their original meaning from the beginning.
If you do not believe this, take the Bible as your example have not men distorted the meaning throughout the centuries. The Apostle Paul warned those early Christians that there were lurking men who were grievous wolves waiting on his earthly departure (his death) to quickly come in and distort the truth of the Bible for their on selfish gain. Their desire would not be the Glory of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ nor to lift His name up.
We who truly know our Lord and Savior and love Him with all our hearts must lift His name up high in this earth that we may drown out all of the lies and distortion about Him and what it means to know, love, and follow Him.
When Moses lifted up that bronze serpent in the desert, because the Lord had judged His people for their sin of murmuring and complaining against Him, only those who looked at the bronze serpent were healed from the deadly bite of the fiery serpents. Many died in the desert because they thought it ridicules that they would be healed by merely looking at a bronze image. They were too focused on what they were feeling. They wanted something in their minds more tangible than the bronze serpent.
Such is the case today and in every generation before Christ death on the cross and since His death on the cross. The idea of being healed from sin by trusting a man who died (who was executed by other seemingly more powerful men) is preposterous to many people and they will not lower or humble themselves at the foot of His cross and believe in Him.
The Apostle Paul told us that this proclamation of the cross would be foolishness to all of those still perishing in their sins. How must we who have humbled ourselves before our Lord Jesus lift Him up today?
We through prayer and fasting must seek grace daily from the throne of our Lord Jesus that our lives may correspond to the words, which we speak. We are most of the time lifting up His name or dragging it through the mire by the lives we live everyday before the lost world. What they see us doing most of the time (not what we say) causes many to mock, scorn, and ridicule His precious and Holy name.
First, we must by the grace of Christ have our lives conformed to His Word that no trace or air of hypocrisy can be found in our lives and then we must diligently get out His word by whatever method the Lord Jesus has given to each of us.
His Word is the seed that must be sown in the hearts and minds of the unregenerate. When we plant seed in the earth, we expect a crop to be produced. We must be about planting the gospel seed in this world and expect God the Holy Spirit to bring forth a crop of true believers, true followers, and true disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Sincerely in Christ,
