“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I can not change,
Courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.”
Paula Deen, an Emmy Award Winning television personality, in an interview with Larry King admitted how The Serenity Prayer has changed her life. “I looked at the mirror one day and said, ‘ Paula, you are gonna die if you don’t get yourself together'." That day, God used the Serenity prayer to send her a special message that conquered her 20 plus years of sufferings from panic attacks and agoraphobia. In her words, she said that “it was like putting on a light switch.”
There are some things in life that we can not control. No matter how powerful, rich and famous we are, at times we need to accept the fact that inevitable circumstances happen . Whether we like it or not, economy drops, we get sick, natural disasters happen, relationships wane, and people change.
But there’s one thing we can control. Our attitude in response to the changes around us.
We can either be discouraged or encouraged.
We can either be fearful or hopeful.
We can either be depressed or learn some lessons from our experience.
We can either worry or pray.
We can have the courage to change the things that we can.
Many of us who had experienced or still experiencing life’s blows know that it’s easier said than done to be strong and calm during difficult times. Courage, hope and good attitude don’t just happen in a flash. We don’t just wake up one morning and say, “Today, I will smile though my heart is broken. I will jump with joy although I am mourning. I will conquer this social phobia by midnight.” We know it takes Supernatural Power much greater than ourselves to do that.
It takes deeper faith in God, knowing He is in total control.
Let it rain…
Let it storm..
Let life’s thunder blows;
Let tears come,
Let it pour,
Let go, let God
Let's trust His Word.
“May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing in Your sight, o Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.” Psalm 19:14
Oh, YES, Gloria! There is such wisdom in your posting! Thank you for sharing these life changing words with us. It is when we can 'let go' and be joyful in all circumstances that God will work WONDERS! This is SO HARD to do, but if we can focus on God over our problems, we can find His Peace and even Joy in the midst of our situations. You are, once again, such a blessing to us! Love, Your SiS, Peggy
