What is God's will? That is a question that most often is in the minds of christians today and of the past. As followers of Jesus Christ we seek God's will in order to please him, and to know that we are walking in what is best for us. But how do we know God's will, and how do we desern the " good' and" bad" emotions within us. What is of God and what is of flesh.
To answer that question, first we must know the Word of God. The word is our standard and the answer point to these questions. I like the saying " what would Jesus Do" . If we know the word of God, we will know what Jesus would do, and not from the opinion of others but we will base our decision on the word itself. The Pastor's sermon each week gives light to the dark paths which lie before us as we learn, but our pastors can not always be with us in all times. It is then our knowledge of the Word of God comes into play. If we have listened and studied for ourselves knowing God's will is easier known.
Some would say reading the Bible is difficult and tha it is hard to understand. This is because the word is the inspired word of God, and it takes the Holy Spirit, and the revelation of truth giving by him. Simply meaning we must pray for understanding before we read, and let the Holy Spirit speak to us thru his Word. If we do this the bible gives light to what was once darkness.
So, if we are listening to our pastors, and studing the word on our own, while praying for that understanding our spiritual swords are much sharper and we will know what is of God and what is not, by knowing him, and what he has said and done in past events . We can relate to examples of these events and compare them to our lives and to what is happening in our lives. Then when the enemy comes to us and tempts us or trys to mislead us, we can remember back to " what did God say in the word when something like this happened.
Understand, that true christianity is not a religion, but rather a relationship. We seek the father's will because he knows what is best for us. With all the above said, we as christians need one more thing to know God's will. We must be honest with ourselves and self examine ourselves. Are we walking so that we can hear the Holy Spirit every day, or simply when we feel we need him. If we want to avoid the pitfalls in life we must walk each day praying for God's guildance. Each step guilded by the fathers hand. Praying before all things, Seeking his will in all that we do.So again, Listening to our pastors, reading the word in our own time, praying for understanding, and actively listening to the Holy Spirit each and every day. Will give new light to knowing God's will, and a life filled with joy, love, and happiness. So this week when your pastor says turn to a spot in your bible, truly do so, read with them, ask for a deeper understanding, and see what God does my friends.
