Barack and Michelle
God’s favor rest upon them
“For such a time as this”
To forge the nation into a new era.
It feels so strange
To hear non-rhetoric
Coming from the mouth
Of a President.
His words are so heart felt
Words of love and brotherhood
An approach that has rarely been tried
But it has been tested and is said to work!
I traveled through cyberspace
And partook of the Inaugural
Celebration and festivities
I too danced at the balls in a flowing gown
With our 44th President --
Who danced like David danced
in celebration of his ascention.
Change has come!
Indeed, "The Lord governs the affairs of man"
I feel like doing something new
I want to go to a different level
I want to rise into my destiny
The visions I have for my own life.
I want to shout from the mountains
Freedom is ringing, freedom rings!
Go tell Martin –- his dream has become reality
But the Lord has exceeded even Martin’s dream
You see Obama had a dream too.
No President is all good or all bad
Because they're politicians
Because they're human and prone
To the intoxication of power.
But we're all a work in progress
So I align my prayers on his behalf
Because "the powers that be --
Are ordained by God".
Everyone has a dream
But we thank Martin for his vision
When the land was still darkened by
Segregation and racism.
We thank Martin for giving his life
And legacy of love's power and
That some things are worth dying for --
For the good of all mankind --
But most of all I thank God
That Jesus felt that way too.
