When visiting our grandkids,
What a sight comes into view!
It’s a gorgeous, large, white bird,
(Our grandkid’s new cockatoo.)
“Hello Lola”, is her cry
(As you enter their nice home.)
She’d like the cage to open,
So, through the house she might roam.
“I love you”, she will cry out,
As a child, wanting her own way.
They tenderly inform her,
“In your cage, you’ll have to stay.”
She starts bobbing, and prancing,
In her pretty little dance,
This almost seems to put me
In to some sort of a trance!
With grace and puffed up plumage,
Her crown, held high in the air;
To see a bird doing a dance,
Indeed, seems to me, quite rare.
You can have your singing birds,
(Like a wren, or canary);
But a dancing cockatoo
Will make your heart feel merry!
So, when I feel discouraged,
Perhaps, feeling a bit blue,
She’ll cheer me up, very fast,
Our grandkid’s white cockatoo!
