I remember the time in bed
You turned to me and said,
"I can't love you like you want me to."
Tears fell from your face,
Stained your pillowcase,
You cried about the hole deep inside your soul.
When you look at me that way,
When you close your eyes and say,
"I can't love you, like you want me to.",
I just want to say, "You'll love me someday."
You went out on your own
To make a life all alone,
And I knew you'd never find another love like mine.
'Didn't know who you were,
Said you had to find out for sure,
And I let you go because you really didn't know who I was.
Every time someone broke your heart
I felt you crying in the dark,
And I knew you'd never find another love like mine.
I just wanna' say, "You'll look for me some day."
When you say I'm not enough
To be the object of your love,
I want to make you see how much you mean to me.
All the time you spent searching
For someone who would bring
You true peace, a joy that'd never cease,
All the time I was right here,
Waiting with a tender tear,
Wanting you to see how much you mean to me.
And, I just wanna' say, "You'll find me someday."
Now you have no one
Because of the things you've done;
My arms are still open, waiting to take you in.
You're afraid you'll be forgotten,
You're afraid you'll be lost in
An emptiness left to burn, 'cause there's nowhere left to turn.
Now you can come home,
You don't have to be alone,

I just want to say, "Now you can love me the right way."
I remember the time you knelt
On the floor and felt

You bowed your lonely head,
Laughed with joy and said,
"Father, now I love you the way you want me to."
