Have mercy upon us, O Lord, according to Your loving kindness and the great amount of Your tender mercies. Blot out our wrong doing. Wash us thoroughly from our dishonesty and cleanse our nation from it's sin. We know that it is You and You alone who has the power and the willingness to forgive us and not remember our sins, once they are forgiven. Put the desire in our hearts to return to You, for You have rescued us, by the blood of Christ, who, through the eternal Spirit, offered Himself without blemish, to God. Jesus cleansed our conscience from the evil that we have done, which enables us to serve You, our living God.
Father, we know that we have sinned, and our sins are forever with us. It is against You that we have sinned and have done evil things in Your sight. We know that Your Words are true and You have the right to judge us for what we have done. We do not deserve Your grace, but Father, we need Your mercy.
Lord, we need Your forgiveness so that You will put away our sins, so that we will not die, but instead, live forever with You. Father, it is You alone who can forgive us. You are truth and only truth can forgive that which is not true.
We are all born into this sinful world. We are all unclean from birth. There is no one who can make us clean. Only You, Lord, can clean us and make us new again. You desire that the world know Your truths. You taught us that if we ask, You will give us wisdom. Father, put it in our hearts to seek You and Your wisdom.
Father, cleanse us and wash us whiter than snow. We know that You require blood for the remission of sin. We thank You for sending Jesus, who shed His precious blood so we would not have to and so we could have an opportunity to accept Your free gift of salvation. We also thank You for Your reasoning and patience with us. We are a sinful nation, and You could easily destroy us with a single word or breath, yet You wait patiently for us to turn from our evil ways and return to You. Put it in our hearts, O Lord, to be expedient in accepting Your grace and mercy.
Jesus said, "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Matt. 5:4). I mourn for this nation because of the direction it is headed. I do take comfort in knowing that if we will just turn to You, O Lord, You will forgive us and spread revival through our lands.
Our country must turn around and look to God for our answers. If we do this, we can experience the joy and gladness of the Christian heart. The Lord is unable to look at our sin. This keeps us from having a personal relationship with Him. However, if we invite Jesus into our hearts, to live through us, we can be redeemed and thus have a relationship with the Lord. Jesus has the power to cleanse us from our sins, making us pure in God's eyes.
God can create a clean heart in us. A clean heart that wants to help others and not worry only about ourselves. A clean heart that wants to share the good news of God's love with others. Turning around our country starts with reading, learning, sharing, and keeping God's Word (The Bible), in our hearts, rather than sharing what happened last night on a mindless, useless television show.
God can renew our spirit and refresh our outlook on life. An outlook that includes the Lord Jesus and what He did so that we may obtain salvation (Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John, in the Bible). An outlook that does not include what latest gadget is on sale at the store or what car the neighbors are driving. Have no concern for the small things in this life that do not matter in God's kingdom, the kingdom of Heaven. Instead, focus on the needs of others, spiritually and physically. This would be a renewing, refreshing outlook for our country.
We put on a charade of being the most charitable country on the planet, and yet there are those in this nation who are trying to remove every known reference to God Jesus, or anything holy from our capitols, courtrooms, classrooms, and even some churches. All the charity in the world does not amount to anything if God is not with us and if He does not get the credit for it. Charity is not about doing good things so that our nation looks good in the eyes of others. It is about doing things in the name of Jesus, so that others will want to thank, praise, and learn more about Him, not us. We are glorified by God when we give anonymously, in the name of Jesus, but we remain anonymous to God when we glorify ourselves.
We must pray to God to never cast us away from His presence or take His Holy Spirit from us. God is the only One holding us together. Without Him, this world would fall apart and descend into the abyss faster than we could ever imagine.
Pray to the Lord to restore you to the glory of His salvation, and to uphold you by His generous Spirit. The Lord takes delight in saving souls. He does not want any of us to perish. He wants to be a part of our lives and bless us through His Spirit. We have to want it though. Our country has to want it. We have to want God in our lives. He is not going to force us to change our evil ways. We have to want to do it.
We have to want to save the millions of babies that are lost every year. We have to want to protect traditional marriage. We have to want the Ten Commandments in our courtrooms. We have to want prayer in our classrooms. We have to want Creation taught and taken seriously in our universities. If we want these things, we must, with God's help, do something about it. The Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Cor. 3:17). Christians must teach others about the ways of the Lord. When we do, sinners are be converted to Him.
The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart and saves those who are crushed in spirit. He can heal our nation and renew our hearts once again, but we must want it. Seek God and ask for healing. We must sacrifice the way we are living and the way we are running our country. We must put our trust in the Lord. Always.
