[SILENCE.]
(Peer squintedly up at ceiling.)
(Inward grimmace.)
"What: are You still, eh...
MAD at ME?"
(Look away.)
(Squirm.)
"I dunno.
(Shrug.)
"YA.. know."
[PATIENT GAZE.]
"No, My child.
[LONG SILENCE.]
What."
(Grimmace.)
(Squirm.)
(Look away.)
[PATIENTLY WAITING.]
(Look around.)
(Frown.)
(Squeeze eyes really hard.)
(Grit teeth, remembering.)
(Grimmace in shame.)
(Long silence.)
"So......eh, ANYWAY.....
what NAME d'Ya LIKE
ta' be CALLED?"
[PATIENT GAZE.]
"'KING' doesn't really
fit my STYLE.......Ya KNOW?"
[WISE ALL-KNOWING NOD.]
"Ah.
I see."
"No, I don't MEAN that!
I'm just from a democratic
COUNTRY and all....."
[ALL-SEEING NOD.]
[CALM VOICE.]
"I know where you're
from, child."
(Glimpse up at ceiling.)
(Still squirming.)
(Clear throat.)
"Well.....yeah.
I know Ya DO.
It's just....eh...."
(Philosophical shrug.)
"'KING' is just a little
too.....too......."
[WISE NOD.]
[CURIOUS VOICE.]
"YES?"
(Squirm.)
(Lost in....eh, thought.)
(Nervous laugh!)
"Well....it's sort'a like
that word 'SIN'!
ECH!"
(Stop smiling.)
(Look away.)
(Squirm.)
"It's, like....a little
too.....too...."
[ALL-SEEING GAZE.]
"WHAT."
(Look away.)
(Shrug.)
"I dunno."
(Squint in thought.)
(High-pitched voice.)
"HEAVY?"
[LONG, CALM NOD.]
(Long silence.)
(Keep looking away.)
(Clear throat, again.)
"Well."
(Shrug.)
"This...this 'KING' stuff..
just doesn't FIT ME!"
(Wave hands dramatically.)
Ya know...........who I am....!"
[ALL-SEEING GAZE.]
[CALM NOD.]
"I understand,
Mein kinder."
(Puzzled squint.)
(High-pitched voice.)
"Ya DO?"
(Clear dry throat.)
(Lower, calmer voice.)
"I mean... Ya do?"
[PATIENT PAUSE.]
[ALL-KNOWING NOD.]
"But,
it fits
Me."
