Psalm 1250
Since a little boy, I‘ve been against fighting.
I don’t like it and never have.
There have been a couple of occasions where
I’ve been pushed by another who wanted to fight.
I just stand there, being ridiculed and humiliated by their words.
I don’t understand it – you say pray for our enemies, Father,
and that those who live by the sword die by the sword.
The sword being any kind of weapon not just a sword.
I’ve been in this world for 38 years and the fighting grows worse.
And what I have an even harder time understanding,
it makes no sense to me,
how countries claim to believe in You so much yet they
were built off war and destruction
and to this day continue in such ways.
Will such countries continue to flourish?
Will such countries not be brought into Your judgment?
Isn’t using weapons of any sort a show of lack of faith?
But we are so proud – our weapons make us proud,
and look how we hurry every Sunday into Your presence.
It frustrates me, and I am concerned for our well being.
Surely our destruction is near.
The earth reels in iniquity.
The dirt and the water – everything is filled with sin.
O how my heart aches – how I cry,
Not just for myself but all the beautiful life.
What a terrible fate that awaits us.
I pray for us all, Father,
Although undeserved – may your forgiveness shine upon us
help us overcome each of our obstacles and our oppressors.
Help us move forward, Father, in peace,
and I need help, Father with my anger,
You see how I become, I’m not myself,
and let anyone who moves forward with wicked purposeful intent,
to bring this out intentionally,
be brought before Your judgment for they work against love.
You be the judge, Fater,
If it shouldn’t be this way then don’t let it be.
I ask this in Jesus’ name,
Amen.
Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty,
Who was, and is, and is to come.
