The weather today is windy and fair,
My life is a forecast, it changes, it's rare.
I got up this morning, in a wonderful mood,
Ten minutes later, I said something rude.
I prayed right away for what I had done,
Then filed it back in my head so it's gone.
I went to the mailbox, in hopes for good news,
Disconnect notices, collections, and past dues.
I prayed once again, I'm desparate, I confess,
Just one tiny miracle would clear up this mess.
Decided to shop and go to the store,
Slammed my finger right in the car door.
Man did that hurt, I cried my eyes out,
Decided to buck up and try not to pout.
"God, don't you see how my day is going?"
"I sometimes wonder just what you are doing."
Back at the store, it's buy one, get one free,
The sale for today, "Whew lucky for me."
Wouldn't you know it, I ran out of gas,
I sat there forever, and watched the cars pass.
Someone finally stopped to help and to see,
Had a gas tank and filled my car up for me.
Back at the house, the phone is ringing
I unlock the door and hear someone singing.
I answer the phone, it's the electric company,
Arrangements are needed, this stuff isn't free.
I tell them my sob story, and buy me some time,
Hang up the phone, to save another dime.
"Where is the singing coming from" I say to myself
Put the few groceries away on the shelf.
Look through the house, and out the back door,
There's a man singing and working much more.
"I was called by your neighbor, I've been here awhile,
I caught it in time, you got a broken water dial."
"The house would have flooded, would have been a goner,
Had I showed up just a few minutes longer."
"Oh thank you." I said, "You're a God send to me."
"I don't have any money, will they charge me a fee?"
"No fee for this fix, it's outside and on us."
"Good thing your neighbor made such a big fuss."
I'd be sleeping in my car, had it not been for him
House would have flooded and I don't know how to swim.
I turn on the tv, and start to watch the news.
Depressing and Negative, I don't need more blues.
People are dying, going hungry or homeless.
Things are just bad, I don't need anymore stress.
I pray once again, for the Lord to hear me.
My life is a mess, I just need him to see.
Then the weather comes on, it's windy and fair,
I sit down and look up in the air.
"You're really good at all that you do,
you answered my prayers, I had not a clue."
In all that I did today, you were there first,
You kept things from getting even much worse.
My life is a forecast, you know before me,
I just have to listen, be patient, and see.
This is dedicated to my brother, with much love
