An old shoe box, filled with memories,
tucked far in back, hidden from sight.
Letters, special cards and photographs,
memories, filling her heart with delight.
A book tied neatly with a ribbon of silk,
lay amidst the most treasured of them all.
Just where and when it came to be hers,
today she just could not seem to recall.
When aged hands so tiny and trembling,
how she labored, the old ribbon to untie.
Until finally it had to gave up it’s captive,
and the old lady gave out a gleeful sigh.
She opened the cover and began to read,
touching the page carefully, she thought.
What a wonderful love story this scribes,
sins of a world, by one man was bought.
Eyes that were aging making it hard to see,
she strained to read the words in each line.
And as the story evolved to a visible reality,
she saw a salvation, of a Heavenly design.
The love of a father for a Son He gave up,
to save sinners, destined for a devil’s hell.
And pages filled with stories of a Heaven,
where all who choose, will someday dwell.
She closed her book, replacing the ribbon,
then held it close to her heart for a while.
That same night the great love in her book,
carried her Heavenward, wearing a smile.
