Often scripture is referred to as "milk and meat". Those who are new to the body of Christ and just receiving our Lord as their Savior, are considered "Babes in Christ" regardless of age, and thus require milk. The milk of God's word refers to the more easily understood and digestible passages of scripture. "Babes in Christ" require the milk of God's word to begin to grow spiritually.
Often people don't read the Bible because they think it’s hard to understand. Revelations of understanding for the "meat" of God's word comes from the Lord when he feels you are ready. Until then, you must feast on the "milk" of His word. As you begin to grow and show yourself faithful, you are preparing your mind to receive the deeper revelations of God. But first He has to renew your mind to the things of God through the reading of His word.
EXAMPLES OF THE "MILK" OF GOD'S WORD
READ 3-5 TIMES DAILY (OUT LOUD)
1. I CAN DO ALL THINGS THROUGH CHRIST WHO STRENGTHENS ME.
2. I AM THE HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL.
3. THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH AND MY SALVATION.
4. GREATER IS HE (God) THAT IS IN ME THAN HE THAT IS IN THE WORLD.
5. THE JOY OF THE LORD IS MY STRENGTH.
6. GOD IS LOVE.
7. BY CHRIST STRIPES (suffering) I AM HEALED.
These types of passages are a declaration to empty you of the things of the world and be filled more with the things of God: An ongoing process of keeping one's house (temple) clean. From there just allow God to lead you to new passages that you can feast on and continue to grow in His word for the rest of your life.
The Bible says, "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." So each time you profess the word of God is a step of faith that will enable you to, "Be strong in the Lord and the power of His might." And it will surely come to pass.
