"The word became flesh and dwelt amoung us. we have seen His glory, the glory of the One and only who came from the father, full of grace and truth." John 1:14 The word came to earth to dwell with us, as man, but before the word was flesh, the word was honored, man cried out to God to send His word. Psalm 119:105-"thy word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path"Psalm 119:25-"preserve my life, according to your word."psalm 119:28-"my soul is weary with sorrow, strengthen me, according to your word."psalm 119:42-"then I will answer the one who taunts me, for I trust in your word."psalm 119:70-"I delight in your law"John 6:68-"you have the words of eternal life" Man needs the word of God. Man needs guidelines on how to live, they need comfort, console, reason, and wisdom. Wisdom is hungered for, sought after, looked for in all the wrong places. Man seeks knowledge and righteousness. God sent the word into the world as flesh. He spoke as a man, and related to man. He spoke into their lives and like Hebrews 4:12 says, He pierced the marrow, judged the thoughts and attitudes of the heart-the hearts of those who claimed to be righteous, and of those who knew they were sinners. The word of God was usually carried around as a fragile book by the priests, but on that night, it lay in a tiny manger, wrapped in old clothes and a womans arms. We need the word. The Living Word. We don't need paper with words to study, we need Jesus with hands to heal. All of the reading in the world won't make a man wise, but one day with Jesus, but a few moments in His courts can change one forever. Man can read a book and talk for hours about it. But if He spends time with Jesus he finds sometimes, words are unnecessary. Many great men have preached on the bible. But only one Man illustrated the bible as His very being. Once, God put His commandments in the hands of Moses. Years later, He placed His Promise, His FULFILLMENT of the law in the arms of Mary. God backs up His word. His word came to earth, healed, taught, lived and died for the humanity that Father God calls Beloved. We long for knowledge, but what we need more than anything is a Saviour. Only one book can save us, and only one Word came to earth, as a man to literally bring forth the good news to all men. In the bible, it talks about peace-when Jesus was born, He brought us peace. The bible talkes about healing and salvation-when Jesus was born, He gave us both. The bible says God is love-and love was illustrated as a man who died on the cross, blameless, for a world filled with blame. May God bless you this Christmas as you get to know His word more-the bible, and that baby who grew to be a man, who lived, died and rose again to give you new life, as well as His spirit to open the eyes of your heart to the things of His.
