Can there be victory
in the valley
or in this barren land
When shadows of life’s sorrows
I fail to understand
hovers over my frailty
and hides the sun from me?
will I succumb to sadness
in my reality?
Chorus:
Lord, when will I return
To that hilltop
so verdant and so high?
heaven seems to cast it’s light
from a majestic sky
where faith and hope proliferate
from mustard seed to tree
and joy filled blossoms open
to emit peace to me
Can there be victory
In the ashes
when death tries to erase
what I have counted precious?
and now I have to face
the chill of winter frost
clad in my cloth of grief
Please gird me with your gladness
oh bring me sweet relief
Chorus:
Lord, when will I return
To that hilltop
so verdant and so high?
heaven seems to cast it’s light
from a majestic sky
where faith and hope proliferate
from mustard seed to tree
and joy filled blossoms open
to emit peace to me
Can there be victory
Without feeling
Where rivers freely flow?
No matter what the season
I have one place to go
Where all burdens and emotions
Whatever weighs me down
Once layed at His precious feet
New hope and joy abound
Last chorus:
Lord, by the still waters
You leadeth me
In pastures green I lie
Like a bleating lamb I call
and close you draweth nigh
forever I will follow you
for you are all to me
my Savior, Friend and Shepherd
through all eternity...
There can be victory...
there shall be victory... in Thee...
(Psalms 30:11)

Of course you can guess why it would resonate with me, or anyone who loves the Lord and is walking for a time in the shadow of grief or longing for her sky to open and the glory of His presence to shine through.
