At an intimate concert appearance vocalist and song writer Pam Thum was telling the audience about a recent shopping trip with her girl friend, where the two of them were really enjoying the Christmas music playing through the store’s speaker system, and started dancing through the department. The rather sophisticated woman who worked in the department didn’t quite know what to make of these two women having such a good time dancing through aisles.
Pam points out that as Christians, we should have the joy of the Lord within each of us, and that some times we need to stir up the joy of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Psalmist David wrote, "Why are you downcast,O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." David recognized that in spite of his feelings, and his circumstances, that his hope was in God.
During this time of year when there doesn’t seem to be any good news, and people all around us are suffering from the Holiday Blues, we need to be the Light in the darkness, by stirring up the Joy of God in our hearts.
