Ever felt as if you were going nowhere? That achieving your dream was one big struggle?
Abraham waited two decades for the son God promised him. When Joseph was seventeen, he dreamed that his father and brothers bowed down to him. Joseph waited almost two decades to see that happen. Jacob worked fourteen years for Rachel, the woman he loved.
Waiting brings us to our dream. Without it, we would be like a two-year-old with a loaded gun. We wouldn't possess the wisdom, the experience and the ability to handle our dream.
However there are things to do while we are sitting in the valley of "promise.” Things designed to help us gain ground while we are still in the foxhole.
1. Focus On Jesus. When Jesus walked on the water, Peter , afraid that Jesus was a ghost, said, "Lord, if that is really you, bid me to come on the water." After Jesus bid him, Peter walked toward Jesus. As long as he focused on Jesus, he didn't sink. Once he heard the roar of the winds and felt the breeze on his face, he started to sink.
When we focus on the impossibilities and listen to the criticism of well-meaning people, we sink. However, as we keep our focus on God and His Word, we move toward our dreams, putting one foot in front of the other until we reach our goal.
2. Enlist The Holy Spirit’s Help. Commune with God by fellowshipping with Him, talking to and listening to Him and praying in the Spirit. Praying in the Spirit will change your life. What do I mean by praying in the Spirit? Speaking in other tongues, or your prayer language. as some call it.
"So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance" (Romans 8:26 AMP).
Do you know how to pray in every situation? The Holy Spirit does. He knows God’s Will. When we pray in the Spirit, we pray the perfect Will of God. How awesome, is that? Don’t know how to pray for your vision? Pray in the Spirit daily. Afterwards, conclude with "I believe that I receive what I just prayed."
Mark 11:24 (KJV) tells us "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them."
3. Stick To Your Confession Of Faith. The writer of Hebrews instructs us in chapter 10, verse 23 to "Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised)"
What did God promise us? Every Scripture in the Bible.
Jeremiah 1:12 states "Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it."
God hastens to perform the promises in the Bible.
Search God's Word for Scriptures that apply to your situation. Then confess those Scriptures when you wake up, when you go to bed, when you are in the restroom, when you are waiting in lines and any other time that you are by yourself. Say them until you can see them clearly in your mind’s eye. Once that happens, your confessions have no choice but to occur.
4. Rejoice. When you focus on Jesus, pray in the Spirit and confess God's Word, rejoice. Rejoice that God will do what He promised He would. It takes real faith to rejoice when you look around and everything looks bad. It takes the God-kind of faith to believe God’s Word over your circumstances.
“Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great is your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you” (Matthew 5:11-12).
Believers from the beginning of time faced similiar situations to yours. The devil loves to whisper in your ear, “You are the only one going through this.” That’s a lie!
I Corinthians 10:13 says “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”
When you are in between your dream and the manifestation, focus on Jesus, pray in the Spirit, confess the Word and rejoice that God’s faithful. By doing these things, you are sowing seeds. In time, those seeds will produce a harvest--your dream.
