When I was a child I didn’t understand the true meaning
Thanksgiving was to me, just many relatives convening
Turkey and cornbread dressing, don’t forget the pumpkin pie!
Mashed potatoes, candied yams, mason jars of sweet tea
Chocolate pie, coconut pie and many buttered rolls for me
But that’s not Thanksgiving, its all a great big lie!
Now that I am old, and have many Thanksgivings past
Those memories of bygone days bring melancholy.….vast
But - Thanksgiving is about thanking God for our very breath!
For family, for life, for freedom - and for Jesus, my King
Thanksgiving is about giving thanks to God….in everything
Even in trials, in heartaches, in bad health and……....death?
Yes! Yes! Yes! Even in all those things…..Praise Him and Thank Him in EVERYTHING…..
1 Thessalonians 5:18 - In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
