I went down to the creek today to see what I could find,
Seeing many imprints wildlife left behind.
Much to my amazement, perhaps ten feet away,
Drinking from the water's edge there he was today.
I stood so very still to see what he might do,
When he became aware of me, he merely stood there too.
Eye to eye we stared, powerless to move.
We watched each other for a while uncertain of what the other would do.
Then so graciously he bowed his head,
Portraying an aura of respect.
Then glanced at me and quickly fled.
Oh I could hardly move,
As if frozen to the ground.
I watched as he vanished into the bounds of nature,
Free, without a sound.
