Life is not always fair, so a lot of people say. There seems to be no light at the end of the tunnel. A bag of potato chips and cold coke (most people's idea of comfort food) are not enough to ease self pity. Eating a mouthful of chocolates to increase one's endorphins doesn't seem to help. And occasionally, even Christians find it difficult to trust God.
Victim mentality thrives among countless men and women. They blame everyone and everything for their misfortunes, including the bacteria and the viruses in the air. The entire world is the reason for their hardships, except themselves. It seems very easy to pass the buck on somebody else so that a person cannot be held accountable for anything.
Although some complaints may be justifiable, there are always solutions to any setback even if they are not immediately evident. Luke 1:37 says:" For nothing is impossible with God." Our great God will point the way out of a seemingly impossible situation but sometimes, we simply refuse to confront it through God's way. Admiting one's fault, for example, scares many people. But that could be the only way out of an obstacle.
A person may say, poor me, I don't have enough earnings that's why I can't give my tithes and offerings.
A destitute couple with eight offsprings holds the government responsible for their inability to send their children to school and to provide them with a decent life.
Someone says lack of education is the cause of his unsuccessful life.
Another believes the parents should be liable for her insecurity because she was neglected by them.
And worst, a Christian stops going to church because the pastor is boring.
The list goes on and on. However, these stumbling blocks are just glitches against the power of the Name of Jesus. In His Name, the storm calms, the devil flees, the sick is healed, the dead rises and sins are forgiven.
God fashioned us in His own image and likeness because He wants us to shine in His glory. "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well." (Psalm 139:14)
Jesus had defeated Satan a long time ago. Therefore, in the Name of Jesus and by His blood, we can claim our crowns, trophies and medals. Let's turnaround from the gloom of our self-indulgence.
Let's turnaround from VICtim to VICtor:"but you give us victory over our enemies, you put our adversaries to shame." (Psalm 44:7)
Let's turnaround from TRIal to TRIumph:"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him." (2 Corinthians 2:14)
Let's turnaround from WARlock to WARrior:"The LORD is a warrior; the LORD is his name." (Exodus 15:3)
Let's turnaround from STRung to STRong:"He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ." (1 Corinthians 1:8)
Let's turnaround from GRief to GRace: "You are the most excellent of men and your lips have been anointed with grace, since God has blessed you forever." (Psalm 45:2)
Let's turnaround from WORrier to WORshipper:"Worship the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful songs." (Psalm 100:2)
Let's turnaround from FRaud to FRee:"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus." (Romans 3: 23-24)
So, the next time the devil tempts you to wallow in misery, cast him out in the Name of Jesus. Remember, God is your Champion.
