Christian Living
When Moses became old enough, he refused to embrace the Egyptian heritage and all of their passing pleasures. He was Jewish, and he chose, by faith in God, to suffer hardships with the people of God, the Jewish people. He knew that putting his faith in God was more valuable than the treasures of Egypt. Moses looked to God and put his faith in Him for all his needs (Heb. 12:24-26).
We should never put our faith in the worldly things on earth. That is not to say we shouldn't take medicine or pursue things that can help us, but instead take our medicines and wash it down with prayer. We are a society of gimmie, gimmie, gimmie and I want it now! Cars, houses, jewelry, big televisions, big bank accounts, and all the toys of life. These things might bring joy for awhile, but that joy is always short lived, leaving bills for months or years after the thrill is gone. Those who do not help people in need, whether wealthy or not, do not experience true joy.
When Christ is in our lives, we have joy, and we have peace. God will provide for all of our needs, not our wants. Food, clothes, shelter, and other things that may arise. When we have a relationship with Him, we have someone to lean on, cry to, talk to, and someone who is willing and able to help, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, three hundred sixty-five days a year. Christ in our lives is more valuable than all the treasures that the world can provide.
