Grateful Heart
I prayed the prayers led by the priest,
Unknown to me were they;
Commitment depths were not perceived,
Tho’ much words I did say.
Then revelation came to me
How coarse I had become
With heart in hand, I'll come to Thee,
Untempered I will run!
I've come to You in lonely fear,
With hardness in my heart.
Please help unstick this broken gear,
And softness please impart.
In stillness I'll approach, dear LORD,
And wait alone for You.
My soul dismissed, I can’t afford,
Nor can I face my due.
“Dear heart rejoice! Come meet your King!
Whose love for you’s so strong,
Through all of heav’n your cries did ring
To Him as some sweet song.”
And in response to all my tears
My King has come so fast;
Relieved my soul of all its fears
And placed them in the past.
I thank You LORD for all You’ve done,
In gratitude I pray.
With softened heart I now shall come,
Avowed to You this day.
