I'm Voting for God

Today, more than ever, is a very crucial time in the history of our nation. We need to step forward and cast our votes. Itís our great opportunity to step out of our comfort zones and stand for what we believe in.

What a blessing we have as citizens of the United States to be a part in restoring this nation back to what it used to be, a place overflowing with milk and honey, favored by God.

To make a very important decision such as voting for the next President of the United States and what he stands for is not that easy. Personally, it took me awhile to finally decide the leaders to vote for, and the proposed laws to adhere to. Donít get me wrong. As a Christian, I stand for what is right in the eyes of God. The problem is, what seems right doesnít always turn the way we like it. Thatís why we really have to test the right spirit.

I screened both Presidential candidates much like filtering every bits and pieces of what Iíve seen and heard, threw the bad stuff away and then weighed my options. I admit that at first, I was swayed by the goodness of both sides- basing on charisma, energy, experience, heroism and what they stand for. The desire for a seemingly positive change and how it may affect me was on top of my list. For example, I asked myself how would voting for so and so affect my future retirement, my economic security, my health plan- all concerning me, me and mine. All those were selfish ambitions. Until God nudged me this question, ďHow about what is right for me?" God sees the big picture. His thoughts are not my thoughts, His ways are not my ways.

So, I will vote for God. I will vote for what pleases Him, morally and biblically speaking.

ďLord, You are a faithful God, keeping Your covenant of love for a thousand generations of those who love You and keep Your commands. Today Lord, give us discernment and wisdom to vote not out of our own self interest and selfish ambition , not to please men but to please You alone. I know that You alone knows whatís best for us. Whoever get elected to the presidential seat may we continue to uphold him to You, and pray for him for itís Your command for us to submit to our leaders and authorities and the laws of the land. May there be unity and peace in the governing process and help us to return to what You desire for us, Your favored people. Bless this country O God, and heal our land. In Jesus name, Amen.

ďIf My people who are called by My name will humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and heal their land.Ē
2 Chronicles 7:14

You made the right choice, Gloria. How could a vote for God be wrong? The leaders, no matter who they may be, are human, and humans make many mistakes, and many promises they can't keep...May the one who will be the President of the U.S., come January, be the one God chose...I am Canadian, but it matters to me. We voted recently, too. We just have to commit our leaders to the Lord, like you said, and pray for them, as is commanded...Thanks for this insightful article... Sorry it has been so long since I have gotten to your articles. I haven't been to the computer much lately. I haven't been feeling up to it. I am still not very well, but should be in a day or so...Just the flu...Helen

Dear Gloria... I say "AMEN" to all that you wrote! I went through much the same process during all the campaigning and, like you, I also came to the point where I could finally surrender to God and ask HIM to direct me, instead of listening to all the campaign promises. I do believe all who ran are good people who believe in God. I don't think we are in for disasters if one wins over the other. However, the REAL WINNERS are those (like you) who turned to the Lord for guidance and are now serving the BEST LEADER OF ALL. Love, SiS Peggy

Bessie, thanks for your very insightful comment. What a great reminder that we can trust GOD ALONE to lead us in every aspect of our lives. His promises never fail. He cares deeply for His people. No human leaders can be so Perfect like HIM. He is after all, our King of Kings.

Gloria, I AM WITH YOU! I cast my vote for Jesus years ago. He has never let me down.... he has never disappointed me.... He has steadily improved my life in EVERY aspect.... He has never turned his back on me when I needed his help.... He has never made one promise that he hasn't kept!!! We donít have to wrestle with ourselves, trying to find one who can and will do the job better. And best of all is that his term as top leader, never expires! God Bless.... Bessie
