Blessed In Trouble Times

If I light a candle at 12 noon it doesn’t mean very much, but if I light that same candle at 12 midnight it makes all the difference. If God blesses me when everything is going well I can’t tell wheather or not it is my efforts or God. But if God blesses me when everything is bleak and dark, it makes all the difference. This weak and bleak economy is just what God needs to shine in the lives of His people. No one has ever been praised in the bible for trusting God in there times of abundance, but the bible praises every person that has trusted God in times of trouble and lack. This has been a pattern all through the bible. Look at this promise in the book of Job. “God shall deliver you in six troubles; yes in seven there shall no evil touch you. In famine He shall redeem you from death; and in war from the power of the sword.” I would say that there is a famine here in America today, wouldn’t you? Listen to what God told Isaac in a time of famine and lack. “ There was a famine in the land, and Isaac went to Abimelech king of the philistines to Gerar. And the Lord appeared to Isaac and said; Go not down to Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell you of, sojourn in this land, and I will bless you.” God tells Isaac not to fear the famine but to trust Him. Are we, the saints of God trusting Him, are we trusting in the stock market? The bible goes on to say that Isaac sowed in the land and received in the same year an hundredfold ; and the Lord blessed him.

David said;” I have been young, and now I am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor their seed begging bread. This bad economy has set us, the righteous, up to be blessed of God. God is not caught by surprise. We are told in Psalms 105 that :” He called for a famine {bad economy} in the land: He broke the whole staff of bread. God sent a man {Joseph} before them {the Israelites} even Joseph, who was sold for a servant; whose feet they hurt with fetters, he was laid in iron.” Look at how God sent His servant Joseph ahead of His people to preserve them during the time of famine and hardship. God is Jehovah Jireh our provider. Let me take you to Exodus 11where God is about to move on behalf of Israel. “ There shall be a great cry in the land of Egypt, such as has never been nor shall ever be again. But against any of the Israelites shall not so much as a dog move his tongue against man or beast, that you may know that the Lord makes a distinction between the Egyptians and Israel” God knows how to put a distinction between His people and the world. There was destruction all over Egypt, except in the land of Goshen where God’s people lived.

This financial crises that we are living in has not caught God by surprise, look at the word of God.” The Lord knows the days of the upright; and their inheritance shall be forever, they shall not be ashamed in the evil times; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied. Psa.37:18,19 The disciples asked Jesus to tell the how could they recognize the sign of His second coming and the end of the Church Age. Jesus answered;” For nations shall rise against nations, and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famine and pestilence and earthquakes. This financial crises that we are living in was foretold by Jesus Christ two thousand years ago. We are living in the book of the Revelation. Look at what Jesus shows John in the Revelation. “And I looked, and behold a pale horse; and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him, and power was given them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with famine, and with the beast of the earth. Rev. 6:8 God has not left us without witness, or someone testify. Jesus told the Pharisees;” O you hypocrites, you can discern the face of the sky; but can you not discern the signs of the times. Matt. 16:3 That is a good question to ask ourselves; can we not discern the signs of the time that we are now living in? Allow me to leave you with this promise from God.” Bless in the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him, they will be like trees planted by the rivers of waters that send out its roots by the streams, they does not fear when heat {trouble} comes, their leaves are always green, they have no worries in the years of drought, famine and lack. Jer. 17:7,8 Behold, I come quickly; and My reward is with Me, to give everyone according as their work shall be. Rev.22:12 Even so, come Lord Jesus.
