Standing in front of the kitchen sink doing dishes or not,
She loved to look out the window at the tree in the back yard.
She watched as it would spring to life after its winters rest.
She loved its shade and its haven for the birds.
She watched as red gold color replaced its green leaves.
Soon they fell, one by one.
She watched as one leaf remained,
Never seeing exactly when it joined the others.
She tucked herself in for her winters rest,
To await life once more.

Uncanny...that in every house I've lived in, there is such a tree just outside my kitchen sink window. Always a joy to read your work. May God bless! Sincerely,
