As the Autumn leaves fall from the trees signifying the passing of summer into fall, year after year the seasons change without fanfare and without fail. This pictures Heavenly Father your ever loving presence in the life of your sons and daughters day after day and season to season. As the seasons change from one to the other, so are you Heavenly Father counted on to continually, provide Your divine presence in the life of all of the redeemed. We may at times grieve You and cause Your presence to manifest in discipline, but even then we can rejoice knowing that You love us so much that You will not allow us to ever stray to far from You or Your ways found in Your Eternal Word, but will draw us back to You with Your chastening hand.
Every eternal son or daughter knows the sting of Your belt and it is never pleasant at the time, but it produces in each of us the peaceable fruits of righteousness. You see we sometimes are prone to forget that abiding in You and in Your righteousness abounds true peace. From time to time, we allow ourselves to the idea that we can have You and Your peace along with the things of this world and this is just never possible. We must remember You told us clearly that no one (not any of us) could ever serve two masters. You never want our attention divided with something or someone else. These are often times hard lessons of Your continual presence but “Surely I will be with you.”
Psalm 139:8 If I ascend up into heaven, thou art there: if I make my bed in hell, behold, thou art there. (KJV)
Once we become Your child and a partaker of Your divine nature, there is no place, we can go to escape Your presence. The sad thing is that we should never want to, but because of our often bouts with rebellion we do and we discover how futile this can be for us. We each ought to rejoice and leap for joy to know that our relationship with You will never be broken. Your love for each of us is so dynamic and altering that it compels us (only by love) to be obedient to Your Eternal will, purpose, and plan for each of us individually.
2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ controls and urges and impels us, because we are of the opinion and conviction that [if] One died for all, then all died. (Quick Amplified Bible)
We are all now dead to the old, but alive in You. Your love controls our actions and behavior while pilgrimaging down here on this filthy sin cursed earth. When we see ourselves in this light, then we will never be concerned or anxious for anything or due to any circumstance, no matter how daunting it may appear. How wonderful to know that no matter what the trial, problem, sin, need, distress, persecution, etc. that we will always here the words, “I will never leave nor forsake you.”
When we wake each and everyday knowing that sin is defeated, and that you have redeemed our souls, it brings an expression of calm and assurance. No, matter what we might face this day that your grace is always sufficient for it all. The desires of our heart become your desires and our thoughts now become your thoughts. No more mindless or frivolous activity that has not the objective of bringing you glory on the earth, but now a resolve born in our hearts to please you and see that you be glorified upon this earth. Grace increases and increases flowing from Your throne each day to sustain us in an evil, wicked, and dark world.
The light of your mercy and compassion, however, puts out all the darkness that surrounds us and causes our hearts to well up in joy and tears. The thought that you would look upon such sinful souls with such love and adoration boggles our small and limited minds to no end. The one who created the entire universe is concerned for all of His little children and not to busy to drop everything and squeeze each one of us in your powerful but loving arms. Oh the years many of us lost by wasteful, sinful, rebellious living. When such mercy, love, and compassion stood there waiting all the time for us to enter in and rest our weary souls. How sad it is when the human will by sin cannot or will not see the splendor of your glory.
Oh, to say to those who love sin, there is a life hid in Christ with God that offers far more than your soul/mind can comprehend. His love is like a flowing spring that never dries up or a delicate butterfly newly released from its cocoon. Sin will offer you much in the beginning, but its dividend will not payoff with any profit in the end. However, His grace will never disappoint, but it will always be sufficient and will never fail of any need or want of your heart.
Surely, I will be with you He says when He comes to stay and make His home in your heart forever. The heart of man is desperately wicked who can know it but God and He can take a cleansing agent (His grace) and remove that black tar that has clouded your heart sinner. Surely, I will be with you when the Heathen rages and the devil roars like a lion for I am He who lives and who was dead but behold I am alive forevermore. Man changes from generation to generation, but the Lord Jesus says I will never change. I am constant and my ways are immovable. Therefore, let the heathen rage all around you, but My constant presence will be with you to preserve you in the end.
Psalm 145:18-20 The Lord is near to all who call upon Him, to all who call upon Him sincerely and in truth. He will fulfill the desires of those who reverently and worshipfully fear Him; He also will hear their cry and will save them. The Lord preserves all those who love Him, but all the wicked will He destroy. (Quick Amplified Bible)
The good work I began in you it is I who will perform it, complete it, and finish it in you. The world all around you children will not get better but only worse. However, as the world around you is decaying I will be in you changing you from the inside out until I form My likeness in you. When Moses descended from Mount Siani, his face shown with My glory and he had to cover it with a veil from the children of Israel, so they could look on him. When I am with you children there is a certain shield I will place in your hearts that will drown out all that is not like Me and drive your hearts to long for and feed upon the food that it satisfying to your souls. In your every affliction I will be there guiding and bringing you children through the fire as I walked into the fiery furnace with the three Hebrew young men. I love you always even to the end of the age.
This is what Oswald Chambers had to say about this abiding life in Christ, “If I am a friend of Jesus, I have deliberately and carefully to lay down my life for Him. It is difficult, and thank God, it is difficult. Salvation is easy because it cost God so much, but the manifestation of it in my life is difficult. God saves a man and endues him with the Holy Spirit, and then says in effect - 'Now work it out, be loyal to Me, whilst the nature of things round about you would make you disloyal.' 'I have called you friends.' Stand loyal to your Friend, and remember that His honor is at stake in your bodily life.”
