La Moyne was hospitalized twice this past week, spending a total of 7 days in the hospital. It was first thought that she had Diabetes...but she was later diagnosed with
Addison's Disease (adrenal gland insufficiency).
The two specialists who were called in, feel that it is due to the 30+ yrs. of medications for Lupus. She came home last night and is doing better and is SO thankful that the nausea/dizziness is letting up!!! Home Health nurses will be coming daily for a while,
as will the physical therapists to help her shoulders that were injured when she fell in August. Thank you so much for your prayers...please continue.
Therefore we're drawing upon some previous thoughts...
some that we feel are needed every day!
During the awful days of World War II when the bombing of London was at its peak,
a pastor asked a little boy in a bomb shelter, who he was and to whom did he belong.
The little boy replied, "Mister, I ain't nobody's nothin'".
The Bible says in Romans 12:3:
"Do not think of yourself more highly than you should..."
Philippians 2:13 says:
"It is God who works in us, both to will and to do of His good pleasure."
To have too high of a self image is a sin...
but to have too low of a self image is also sin.
Genesis 1: 26-27 says that we were created by God.
Psalms 8 says that we were created a little lower than the angels.
Many are hurt by low self images that lead to a pessimistic view of life.
Here are some actually stated views of life:
"Life is a joke that isn't funny"
"Life is a dead-end street with no exit"
"Life is a life-sentence that we get for being born"
"Life is a disease for which the only cure is death"
The poet said, "Some men die by shrapnel and some go down in flames...
but most men perish inch-by-inch who play at little games."
There is a better way! Nobodies can become somebodies!
(A) Nobodies become somebodies when they let the Lord be Lord. (I Cor. 2:14-3:4)
1. The natural man must let the Lord be Lord (vs.14)
2. The spiritual man has let the Lord be Lord (vs.15-16)
3. The carnal man has let self get back on the throne (3:1-4)
(B) Nobodies become somebodies when they are laborers with God. (I Cor. 3:5-15)
1. We are ministers (verse 5)
2. We are to plant, water and harvest under the direction of the Lord (verse 6-7)
3. We are accountable to God (verse 8-9: 4: 1-2)
4. His grace will be sufficient (verse 10)
5. He is the foundation for our world (verse 11)
6. Love is the motive for our labors...
and the glory of God must be the results...
and what we do must NOT be done in the weakness of the flesh...
but by strength of Spirit (vs 12-15)
(C) Nobodies become somebodies....
when the life we live is the Holy Spirit using our bodies as His Temple. (1 Cor .3:16-23)
1. Do you know this? (verse 16)
2. Fear God and serve Him (verse 17)
3. Seek the wisdom of God....more than the wisdom of man (verse 18-20)
4. Remember 'whose' you are! (verse 21-23)
It is a great day when we realize these three L's:
It is a great day when we realize that:
~we were created by God
~that Christ died for us
~and that there is tremendous potential in each of us!
Zacheus felt like a nobody....until he realized that:
Christ knew him, but loved him!
Christ was willing to save him!
Christ wanted to use him!
God wanted and needed Zacheus....and God wants and needs YOU!
Ethel Waters said, "Honey, God don't sponsor no flops".
