He was wounded
for our transgressions,
He was bruised
for our iniquities.......
and with His stripes
we are healed.
[Isaiah 53:5]

Temptation
tiptoes softly,
into my
warm and
moist night.
He smiles knowingly,
as his finger
curls gently,
and sensuously,
around
my dreams
of slow
anticipation.
Tenderly whispering
into my thoughts,
with delicious little
strokes,
touching sweetly
here,
and
tickling
a bit
delicately
there.
But then,
I think of
my Lord's Face,
as the brutally
lashed strokes,
of the long cords
of the
leather whip,
meticulously curve
around
and anchor
themselves,
into
His Back,
slicing
savagely
His bared skin,
with its bits
and pieces,
of broken glass,
and chipped
bone,
until He
is forced,
by His Own Will,
to kneel
to the ground.
His Blood
oozes,
bursting forth,
and
trickles down
into the dirty sand,
just before
He carries
the Cross,
over
His scourged
and bleeding
Back,
just
for me.
And then
I am sickened
by Temptation,
with all his
nauseating loveliness,
and delicately
provoking
strokes of
anticipation,
with all of
his mouth watering
promises,
licking
of
raw pleasure.
For the ribbons
of my delight,
have now
become
the ribbons of
His Flesh,
as my Lord
in earthy horror,
bears the
iniquity
of
my sin.

Because He
poured out His Soul
to death,
and was numbered
with the transgressors;
Yet He bore the sin
of many
and made
intercession
for the
transgressors.
