Your ways are higher, they are not mine
I, at times, scratch and claw and try to decipher
Alas, it does no good
They are higher, wiser, deeper, longer, stronger
You can see all of eternity, You created it
Where my vision is hampered
Yes, surely Your ways are higher . . .
Lord at times I know I have wrestled
Others I have simply layed in one spot and soaked my pillow
Many others still, I wiped down the wrinkles, and swallowed hard and just put one foot in front of the other
Yet, even in the worst I can see You
How magic does that gift seem You have given to me
Yes, surely Your ways are higher
I saw You smiling at me in my grandson's eyes
Yesterday I heard Your concern in my friends voice
Today I heard it in a couple understanding statements that were made by a man who once almost killed me
Oh how Your ways are higher!
On the mountain I have rejoiced
And I know You were there
In the deepest of valleys You lifted my face
Yes, still, You were there
As scripture says: "Where can I go?"
Oh Lord-
I DO feel weary
But I am inspired by the wonder of You
I DO feel lonely but I trust that You
still have a plan
& I DO feel helpless, once again, like a young girl-
But I realize even here, it is as it should be.
Yes, Your ways are higher. & My knowledge is nothing but a speck of a speck of a speck on the tiniest thing . . .
So I thank You
I thank You for never leaving, forsaking
I thank You for lifting me up when there was no energy left for me to get back on my feet
& I thank You even for all the "I just don't understands".
& For Your great mercy and patience with me.
Your ways are higher
