Living In The Book Of Revelation
As we look at these perilous times that we live in, times of great financial uncertainty, destructive hurricanes, many people are asking the question,” Are we living in the book of Revelation?” The answer to that question is Yes, we are living in the book of Revelation. But before you panic with despair let me tell you that every generation that came before us can be found in the book of Revelation. Let us prove this point first before we move on. In Revelation 20:4-6 we read; “ And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given to them; and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshiped the beast, {anti-christ} neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their for heads, or in their hands; and they were resurrected to rule with Christ a thousand years, but the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished, this is the first resurrection. In Acts 24:15 Paul spoke about the general resurrection, one of the Just and one of the Unjust. Here we see in the Revelation the resurrection of the Just, which will include all of the Old Testament saints. So we can see that all the righteous saints of the old testament are mention in the book of Revelation.

Yes, we that are living in this world in these last days are living in the book of Revelation. The task is to know just where in the Revelation are we to be found. Let me clarify what I mean when I say we, I am speaking of the Saints of the God, the Church. Let me give you a little info about the Church. There are two types of the church, the visible and the invisible church. The invisible church is composed of true believers since Pentecost, sometimes referred to as the universal church. But the visible church is your local church which may have both believers and unbelievers. Revelation chapters two and three contains a description of the church age written to seven local churches. These seven churches actually existed in John’s, day. They represent seven types of churches. Throughout church history we can see that one of these types of churches has dominated a particular period of time.

I believe that we are living in time of the Philadelphian church. This church is found to be in between the Church at Sardis, and the Laodicean church. Jesus said of the Philadelphian church;” These things says He that is holy, He that is true, He that opens and no man shuts, and shuts and no man opens. I know your works; behold I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it; for you have a little strength, and have kept My word, and have not denied My name. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie, behold, I will make them to come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. Because you have kept the word of My patience, perseverance, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation {tribulation} which shall come upon the all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold I come quickly, hold fast that which you have, that no man take your crown. Him that overcomes will I make a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go no more out, and I will write upon him the name of My God, and the name of the city of my God which is new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God; and I will write upon him My new name. He who has ears to hear, let him hear what the Spirit is saying to the church.”
Jesus commends this church for making use of the doors open for the preaching of the gospel. We live in a time when the gospel is going to the ends of the earth. Jesus promises this church that they will not have to go through the coming tribulation, that will serve as pillars in the temple of God, that He will give them the name of His God. All He asks is that they; “hold fast that which you have, that no man take your crown.” In other words, keep doing what you are doing. There are some that think that we are now living during the time of the Laodicean church, but I don’t believe that we have fallen that far. I believe that the church at Philadelphia will be the church that goes up in the rapture and the Laodicean church will be the church that will witness the rise of anti-christ.

Jesus said that the church at Laodicea was lukewarm, and that He would spew them out of His mouth. Behold I stand at the door {of the church} and knock, if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to them and to sup, dine, with them, and they with Me. Jesus was not even welcome in this church for He had to stand at the door and knock for entrance. Look at what the bible says will come in the church in the latter days. “ Now the Spirit speaks expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; speaking hypocrisy, having their conscience seared with a hot iron.” 1 Tim. 4:1,2...This know also that in the last days perilous times shall come, for men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud…having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof; from such turn away.2 Tim.3:1-5...There shall be mockers in the last times, who shall walk after their own ungodly lust , these be they who separate, divided themselves, sensual, having not the Holy Spirit. Jude 18,19

And finally the bible tells us in 2 Thessalonians 2:3,4 “ Let no man deceive you by any means, for that day shall not come {the second coming of Jesus Christ} except there shall come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition, who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called god, or that is worshiped, so that he as god sits in the temple of God, and calling himself god. This is a picture of the anti-christ, who will rise to power during the time of the Lodicean church. Yes we are truly living in the book of the Revelation. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
