Electing a True Governor
Sing praises to the LORD, enthroned in Zion; proclaim among the nations what he has done.
At this time in American history, when so much is riding on the up-coming elections, and America is about to create political history by choosing a new set of leaders, I propose this thoughtÖ
That if each of us individually, as Americans, would turn to our eyes and our hearts to God, and seek his face, that the peace God intended for us to live in could one day be a reality. And not for America only, but for all nations all over the world.
As I contemplate all of the things that have gone wrong in America and indeed all over the world, I can come to only one conclusion, that all of us, at one time or another, have gone our own way and set aside the gift God gave to us in his son Jesus Christ. The gift of a True Leader, a True Governor, who is able to guide the human heart and govern our behavior.
With the birth of Jesus Christ, God declared ďPeace to the people on earth and goodwill to all men.Ē Through Jesus Christ God poured his spirit out on the entire world, in the hope that we would learn to be governed by his spirit. With the ultimate goal of learning to put God first in our lives and then to love our neighbors as we love ourselves, and this is true for the entire world.
So why is the world in such turmoil? And why do men with evil intentions still abound if God gave us his spirit to guide our behavior? Because as time has passed, the message of Godís peace to all mankind has been lost in a sea of religious ideas that began to form shortly after Jesus Christ ascended. And with each new idea about God came a new religion. But the real problem is that most of these religions are focused on the after life, when Jesus said he came to give us Life here and now. And it is through the Life in his spirit that we can learn to live in peace with all men.
While thinking about my own decision for this next election I decided to read the Declaration of Independence. In spite of what some groups may want you to believe America was born and founded on the principals of Godís Word. At the time, there were a few men and women that took it upon themselves to say no to a government that was trying to rule over them. Part of that ruling was to take away their God given rights to pursue Life, Liberty and Happiness.
In choosing a new leader to guide us for the next four to eight years, I implore you as fellow Americans, to choose God first as the head of your own personal government and to seek Godís guidance and Leadership through the Life of his spirit given to all men through his Son Jesus Christ. Do it for yourself, for your own heart, and for the heart of our nation.
I have written my own declaration of independence from any other Form of Government than that of Godís Government. As an American, I will continue to abide by American laws, but in my heart and in my conscious I pledge allegiance to the One and Only Wise God. It is my hope that you will join me and pledge your heart to God.
With the Authority invested in me I present to you, my own declaration of independence.
My Declaration of Independence
When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one person, either man or woman, to dissolve the Religious bands which have connected him or her to another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, his or her separate and equal station to which the Laws of God have entitled them. And with a decent respect to the opinions of mankind it is required that one seeking such separation should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.
With respect to my fellow Americans and to the people of all nations, the following statements are the causes which compel me to declare my separation from Religious rule.
I hold these truths to be self-evident, that ďall menĒ are created equal and that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, and among these rights are Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness, which is true joy in knowing God is with us.
To secure these rights, Religions are instituted among men, deriving their powers from the consent of the ones they rule over or govern.
But when any Form of Religious Government becomes destructive to the pursuit of Life and Liberty in Jesus Christ, it is the right of one individual to alter or to abolish that government, and to institute a New Government, whose foundation is set on the principals found in Godís Word, and whose powers are derived from the same Word of God, and to institute Godís principals that to them shall seem most likely to effect their Eternal Safety and Everlasting Joy.
Prudence, indeed will dictate that Godís government which was established long ago should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience has shown us that mankind is more disposed to suffering when religious ideas are allowed to rule. Everyone has the right to abolish these forms of religious government to which they have become accustom to and to set themselves free with Life and Liberty in God.
For a long time now, abuses and usurpations have been caused by religious leaders who are invariably seeking the same Object, meaning their God given rights of Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Some religions have designed ways to reduce their followers under absolute despotism. It is my right to throw off such government, and to provide New Guards for my present security.
Such has been the patient suffering of this Follower, and now is the time and the necessity which constrains me to alter my former Systems of Religious Government. The history of the present Religious systems is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over their followers. To prove this, let these facts be submitted to a candid world.
16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what he (Jesus) has done, has been done through God."
Different religious organizations have formed their own ideas about this verse saying that if you do not believe in Jesus ďthe way they doĒ you are condemned. But the truth is that most religious systems do not believe that God has already and truly redeemed ďall of usĒ through his Son, and they press you to conform to their way of thinking thereby executing their own ruling over whether or not a man or woman is saved. They have distorted what the scripture says by adding their own rules to salvation. This verse was not intended to distinguish believers from unbelievers, but that is what religious ideas and rules have done to people. God is bigger than that! God is with all of us whether you believe it or not! God gave us His Spirit so we could come close to him and learn about His Ways through the example of his Son.
Without the knowledge of this Life through His Son, many of us perish in our spirits because we recognize that we can never be good enough to deserve or earn Godís love. God has dealt with unbelief much longer than we humans and religious leaders wish to believe. God is not looking to condemn someone because they donít believe in him, but rather he is patient and willing to teach all of us about the Life he has given and continues to give through his Son Jesus Christ.
What is the Way? What is the Truth? And, what is the Life that brings true happiness? It is the Life you receive in your soul when you discover the truth that in spite of all your weaknesses, God loves you and is willing to work with you through his Son until his Son is formed inside of you. Be patient with yourself, becoming Christ like is a process that happens over time.
For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his Life.
2 Corinthians 5:18
And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
In closing let this Word of God compel you to the same separation from religious rules and false ideas about our great and loving God. 2 Corinthians 5:20 Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
If we can do this on an individual basis, across America and in all nations, I believe the Peace that passes all understanding could one day be the Peace the entire world lives in. Cast your vote for Godís Leader Jesus Christ and be reconciled to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Godís Happiness.
Sincerely in Christ, Elizabeth McAndrew
