A WORM IN THE ARMY?

There once was a worm that sailed the ocean blue,
Listen as I tell you a story, a story that is believed to be true.
It began in the big war way back in June of 1942,
When a worm joined the army and did all he could do.
This worm climbed into an army helmet that washed upon shore,
And sailed East into the Atlantic until he could sail no more.
The worm and his helmet hit the beach in the North of France,
Where he spied a battalion of Krauts in fancy blue pants.
He jumped back into his helmet, quick as a flash,
And sailed the English Channel to report to the brass.
He told Winston Churchill where all the Germans were,
And when he finished his report, he said, May I speak Sir?
Mr. Churchill, it is now the year 1944, the day is June five,
And after sailing for two years, I am lucky to be alive.
So, if you don’t mind, I would like to sit this one out,
And leave it to you and your men to help defeat the Krauts.
So, there you have the whole story, a story that was told,
About a worm, that was brave, so brave and quite bold.
You won’t find him anywhere in a world history book,
It’s so sad to know he met his end on a fisherman’s hook.
