For my sake He agreed
To be nailed to the tree
He was bruised for my transgressions
Before I even made my confessions
Without shame He was spread on the tree
Like a common criminal my pain he bore
Just so that I could be released and set free
He complained not, even when His clothes they tore
He gave his life and me did he not abandon
O teach me how to know the worth
The value of the work that was done
By the One who did not condemn me, to not.
At Calvary precious blood flowed
A Cleansing for the souls of the lost
Sweat and blood, the mixture flowed
Freely cascading down the cross.
Now I can say I am free indeed
Free because of a friend indeed
He was there from the start and saw the need
To shed pure blood and save Eve’s seed
O what perfect splendor!
O what joy everlasting!
