‘Let’s go and worship
We don’t belong to this ship.’
“You are my slaves.
Tell me, who can save?
Then God sent the plagues-
Flies, frogs, lice, came in a rage.
Fear stared Egypt in the face
Anguished gripped her many days.
They dared defy the Most High.
Death of first born was a big blow
The last straw that broke Carmel’s back
Egypt reeled in God’s judgment stew.
Mayhem and doom paraded the streets.
Ok, go! Go away! Go right now!!
Israel was freed, released to go.
Set free from the manacles of her foe.
Covered by day by a pillar of cloud.
Directed by night by a pillar of fire.
Jacob danced, jubilated, sang aloud;
Saved from slavery- their heart’s desire.
Pharaoh had a second thought:
‘I must pursue. I must overtake.
Sending them away was a mistake.
Go and get these people, our slaves
I take back the freedom that I gave.
Where do they think they’re going?
We can’t do without their service.’
And so in hot pursuit they went,
Breathing fire and brimstone,
Huffing and puffing all along.
Israel saw them and melted.
Shaking in her boots, she cried!
“What have you done to us Moses?
Brought us here for the slaughter?
Are there no graves in Egypt?
See the Woe you have brought us into.
Were we not better as slaves?
Did we not tell you to leave us in bonds?
‘Stand still and see,’ Moses commanded.
Salvation will come from the Master of the Sea.
Moses cried out to God:
“See, they want to lynch me.
Did you not say, ‘Let My people go!?’”
‘Use your authority, the rod.’
So Moses obeyed God’s Word.
Lifted his rod and parted the sea.
The sea saw Him and fled both sides.
Making an express way, a high way
Israel was amazed, and walked through
Faithful and True showed what he could do.
Egypt was bold, brazen to follow
But this spelled her downright sorrow
She sank like lead in the sea
Her demise was open for Israel to see
It was the blood trap.
Egypt played into His hands.
She sang,
The Lord is my strength,
And has become my salvation.
He is my God, my fortress and shield.
God has triumphed gloriously.
His right Hand and holy Arm,
Have gotten Him the victory.
The horse and the rider
Has He hauled into the sea.
He makes a way
where there is no way.
He remains the same
yesterday, today and forever.
Do you face a red sea?
Is Satan and his cohorts in hot pursuit?
Look to Jehovah Nissi – your victorious Banner.
Call upon his Name
The name above all names.
Then stand still and see!
