Good to Know

The moon is looking lazy
on this cool summer morning.
The stars still shining bright.

A rooster crows in the distance,
saying “Goodbye to the night.”

Dogs bark in the distant north,
one in the east, and now, the west.
Creation tells a sweet, sweet story
while many are still at rest.

Good morning, Lord of Glory.
Thank You for this brand new day.
It’s good to know You’re here.

It’s good to know the sun will rise,
that You’ve wiped away my tears.

Good to know You’ve never left,
that You’ve held me along the way.
Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness.
Bless me now, oh Lord, I pray.

Bless me in my going out
and, yes, in my coming in,
Your scepter upon my head.

With Your banquet set before me,
I partake of my daily Bread.

Word of Light and Word of Truth,
faithful to all generations,
thank You so for loving me,
small among so many nations.

And yet, with You by my side,
I feel so strong and mighty.
Your armor suits me well.

Now I know better than before,
You are with me even in hell,

for it seems I made my bed
there among my enemies.
Yet, I woke to find You there,
setting my troubled heart at ease.

You set a table for me
to strengthen me for the fight,
holding me through it all.

When I thought I could take no more,
You shattered the dividing wall.

Jericho woke with thunder.
My enemy ran for fear.
Thank You, Lord, for this new day.
It’s so good just to know You’re here.

Dear Joyce, It feels so good to read your beautiful poetry once again, and touch anew the heartbeat of our marvelous God in your writing! How did you know one of my favorite experiences is getting up early and watching the sun kissing goodbye to the moon? And wow--congrats on being selected for the FW Jewel Chest (no surprise here!). Love and warm blessings from a "long-lost" FW sister, Sherry

for it seems I made my bed there among my enemies. Yet, I woke to find You there, setting my troubled heart at ease. You've just described my life lately. It's good to see you praising God again. I miss you terribly, my friend. You're on my heart today.

What a beautiful truthful prayer. A refreshment to my morning! Praise the Lord that even if we feel insignificant the Lord feels we are important enough to listen to us and answer our prayers. We serve an awesome God! God Bless! Danette

Dear Treava, You always find a way to glorify God in all your ways. Life will bring many thistles along the way, but when one sweet and lovely moment steals away our hearts, we are blessed for that moment, which turns our mourning into joy. You are greatly loved, Little One.
Peggy Yengling 25 Sep 2008
Oh, what an exquisitely powerful message! This is a beautiful reminder that GOD IS always faithful, regardless of our circumstances. It is incredible to see that God values us, His creations, so highly and lifts us up to the heights through His love for us. He is always there, loving us, encouraging us, guiding us... welcoming us to each brand new day. Thank you for this uplifting 'gift of poetry'. With love, always...Peggy
