Good to Know
The moon is looking lazy
on this cool summer morning.
The stars still shining bright.
A rooster crows in the distance,
saying “Goodbye to the night.”
Dogs bark in the distant north,
one in the east, and now, the west.
Creation tells a sweet, sweet story
while many are still at rest.
Good morning, Lord of Glory.
Thank You for this brand new day.
It’s good to know You’re here.
It’s good to know the sun will rise,
that You’ve wiped away my tears.
Good to know You’ve never left,
that You’ve held me along the way.
Thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness.
Bless me now, oh Lord, I pray.
Bless me in my going out
and, yes, in my coming in,
Your scepter upon my head.
With Your banquet set before me,
I partake of my daily Bread.
Word of Light and Word of Truth,
faithful to all generations,
thank You so for loving me,
small among so many nations.
And yet, with You by my side,
I feel so strong and mighty.
Your armor suits me well.
Now I know better than before,
You are with me even in hell,
for it seems I made my bed
there among my enemies.
Yet, I woke to find You there,
setting my troubled heart at ease.
You set a table for me
to strengthen me for the fight,
holding me through it all.
When I thought I could take no more,
You shattered the dividing wall.
Jericho woke with thunder.
My enemy ran for fear.
Thank You, Lord, for this new day.
It’s so good just to know You’re here.
