The Spirit of Compromise Versus The Spirit of Truth
While the Bible clearly states there is a time and season for everything, there is something which is not out of season. And it never changes. God, and His Word, and what He requires of us daily. As falls season arises, so comes the holidays and holiday traditions.
I believe when it comes to God, the spirit of compromise always comes into play. On one hand the church expresses a desire to be separate from the word. On the other hand, the churches desires to compete with the world in almost every aspect. For example, during Halloween, we have Fall Festivals. During Christmas, we hang Santa Claus on the our door, and during Easter time, we encourage our children to participate in Easter egg hunts. These activities doesn't have anything to do with glorifying Christ and making his name known. These activities have pagan roots
Most of the time, I often hear the excuse that children don't understand. I disagree with this. I believe this comes from stronger spirit. A spirit of compromise. We are compromising by taking out the Word of God, and placing it with activities. We can't even admit the church has become very lukewarm by allowing everything to hinder the work of the ministry. I found out, if you tell children what Jesus requires of us, they are more apt to obey.
We find out that many of our youth which comes from a Christian background finds themselves straying away from God. We ask ourselves why. We teach them two different things. We teach them it is okay to go to church and accept some of the things in the Bible, but not the entire truth. The truth is nothing is more important than the Word of God and standing up for righteousness.
If we compromise on just a little bit, we find ourselves losing instead of winning. Sure, with other activities children from the neighborhoods will come and support us on that day. What happens the next day? Nothing. We only try and reach them that one day, we want to prove a point. Instead of glorifying Jesus with advertisement, we post a sign of all of the activities. We do the same at Christmas, and Easter. Where is the glory? We are to make Jesus known in everything we do.
If we don't change our ways, we will find ourselves and our churches without power and strength because we don't honor God. We are giving credence to fear instead. We are so afraid of our children getting the wrong message, when we are the ones who sends it.
We should be praying over our communities and schools, and asking for deliverance for our cities. Instead of Fall festivals, and Egg hunts. We should be having revivals, and deliverance services, so that God can be honored.
