Pockets of beauty
tucked along the road, display
an ocean vista
of gentle swells and undulations,
a panoply of green
in infinite shades and variety,
places to sit and rest,
to just stop
and admire the view.
Lord, thank you for
placing scenic overlooks
along my road,
places for me to get off
the busy highway of life,
to stop my frenzied rushing
and enjoy the moments of solitude
and peace,
to let my mind be absorbed
by beauty and tranquility.
In these moments,
perspective returns;
I realize how small I am and
how great You are,
how trivial all my busyness is
compared to the glory before me.
Forgive me when I rush by,
ignoring Your overlooks,
too busy to stop
and share a moment with You.
