Sobbing hard, "Please don't go!" Gianni begged as she held tightly to his ankles. Never the less he kept on walking dragging her across the living room floor. Lying on her side she refused to let go. Her nails digging into his skin as her grip began to loosen. He was getting closer to the door and his pace quickened. "STOP!" Gianni yelled. He paused for a moment, looked down at her then continued on. "What a pathetic mess," he mumbled to himself. He gave a jerk of the foot accidentally kicking her in the nose. She grabbed her face and heard the door slam. She laid where she was on the floor and cried herself to sleep that night. He however was gone, gone forever.
. . . . . . . .
Gianni loved her husband a lot. So much they decided to get married which later led to a house and a family full of children. The stress of bills wore them out. Her husband was never around working many hours to keep up with the cost of living. Gianni began to get tired and overwhelmed from the children. She felt like a single parent. Her body was worn and her energy was low like her self esteem.
Her husband felt the same way. Too tired to even communicate at the end of the day. He often returned from work tired and grouchy. The only talking between them involved complaints. Feeling exhausted and sad, Gianni began to drink and drowned her problems. It got her from day to day. Although she was a christian, she was just too tired to pray at night. Too busy to pray during the day and each morning she was launched into a whirlwind of demands by her children and chores.
Her husband noticed these changes and also began to become bothered by her. Then without even noticing they had drifted apart. Apart from one another and apart from God. God was their first love but they let the world consume them. When times got rough, they relied on their selves instead of asking God for help. When he walked out the door Gianni felt her world crumbling. She was at rock bottom and had lost her true love.
Gianni began to pray. Sobbing and praying everyday. Ashamed of herself and what she had become. Not being the role model for her children, turning to alcohol instead of the Lord. Could he really forgive her for that? Her husband was also praying. Had he made a mistake by giving up on her. God had forgiven him so many times and he knew as a christian that marriage was to be a commitment not only between them but to their children and also a commitment before Christ. After all it was his neglect that had made Gianni feel so down. He couldn't help but feel guilty about it. As they both began to pray separately in their own homes God began to listen.
God had heard the cries of Gianni and her family. It was because of his grace and mercy he has forgiven them of their mistakes.
Acts 13:38 "Therefore my brothers, I want you to know that through Jesus the forgiveness of sins is proclaimed to you."
Regarding his mercy on them,
2 Samuel 24:14 " I am in deep distress, let us fall into the hands of the Lord for his mercy is great. . "
One thing about Gianni and her husband is that even though it was inevitable that he was walking out that door, Gianni held on refusing to let go. That is how the Lord feels about us, his children. So much more does he love us and want to forgive us. Even though we are constantly walking away from our father he continues to hang on to us through our trials and forgives us our mistakes. His mercy shows us we are not forgotten by him and his persistence show how great is his love for us. No matter how hard we may pull away from him he will still be hanging on because of his Love.
John 3:16, "For God so loved the world he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life"
